MIFF Day Zero.
Film seen:
Day of the Dead, 102 min., Katie's Couch.
Considering I was (and still am) planning to see all of the Romero "Dead" films at MIFF but couldn't get to DotD because it clashed with something, I hired the DVD. While I enjoyed the film overall, I found it to be a little tedious to begin with and to middle with and to almost end with. To make this clear I'm not specifically watching these films for the gore, but when the plots boring it certainly helps to have rivers of blood and exploding heads instead.
I won't bother mentioning plot, but will say that this film was redeemed within the last fifteen minutes. Basically, a horde (official collective noun?) of zombies attack the main characters, and the sheer number of them lends itself to fun with costumes. Can you say clown zombie? Can you say teh awesomerad?
