Free Advice?
Hey everyone on my friends list... and lurkers who dont have an LJ but still read my LJ on the rare days that I post (Holly?)... I need some help.
I have ONE summer off for the next 5 years. One summer (11 weeks) where I will not have classes (I still have to work during that time, but thats ok). I want to make the most of it and Travel this summer.
An older kid once told me that there are "Credit cards" that give "miles" on Airline ticket purchases... so its like this. I purchase something with my "credit card" and I pay for it later, but in the meantime some dottering old man comes over and says "oh hey, thanks for using my card, here are a bagillion miles for you". Then I can call up an airline and say "yo dude, some old man gave me these invisible miles, can you give me a ticket for as far as these miles will take me" and the airline person will say "wicked dude, here you go" and we will high five and do a chest bump followed by a "bro grab" so he knows I am cool and not a square.
The thing is, I am about to be 30 years old and I dont know how this all really works. Can anyone tell me a credit card that will give me free things? I am especially interested in airline miles.
Right now the traveling plans for the summer consist of
Ireland
England
Amsterdam/Utrect
It appears that I will have free places to stay in all of these areas but if I am going to shell out money for tickets (this will all be one long trip by the way) I would like to at least get something for my money.
I have a Capital One Mastercard, but I have had it for about 12 years and know nothing about it. All I know is that I buy something with it (usually online purchases because I hate using anything but cash in a store) and when the bill comes I usually pay for it all. I dont like to keep any sort of balance on my card... although, sometimes I forget to pay for a few months and the card people call and yell at me and I pretend I am in the hospital or in a car accident or under the ocean and I cant hear them. Then I quickly run home and stuff a check in the envelope and hide under my bed until it clears... suckers!!! oh shit, I hope they are not reading this.
So anyway, Tell me about AWESOME credit cards that will give me free airline miles since I am too lazy to google it!!! okthnxbai!
