Sadly it's still not time to replace them. Worded more properly: they will not be replaced yet though they required replacing many years ago.
This weekend we went down to our dank, dark, half-deconstructed basement which becomes freezing cold in the winter and we put up some window shrink wrap across all three. Immediately better. Last weekend we had heavy duty tape and wrap and did the same on the outside. Double wrapped basement windows just may be a temporary and partial solution.
This summer we decided to wash and clean both the interior wood windows and exterior storm-ugly-aluminium windows. Must of been ten years since they were last cleaned. The house looked much better (from the inside at least). That night two of the storm windows were broken due to poor latching (user error). Three weeks ago we put up more of the same outdoor wrap over the affected windows, providing the home some protection from cold and damp.
Today we started the removal of the kitchen window trim. We did the same with the old backdoor trim as well. Both were in deplorable condition and aside from the ceiling itself wether were the last remnants of the previous kitchen we demolished. The plan being now being to cap the thresholds with mud and gypsum sheet to have a clean modern approach to layout.
The day cannot some soon enough for us to have fresh windows installed.
