So right now I have rather a lot on my plate, which means my Chim saga has been left on the backburner a bit, which is pretty lame considering I've been so slow at writing it already.
However, to compound my guilt I have accidentally fallen into another ship which could threaten to monopolise even more of my time. Okay that's a lie. It already has. Now just to precursor this admission, I have never ever in my life sat through an entire episode of Coronation Street. Until now.
For those not in the know, Corrie has finally dragged itself into the 21 century with what had a massive year-long build up as "the lesbian plot." And you know it's going to be bad when The Sun is reporting this twoddle a year before it even happens. And yet... And yet...
It's NOT bad. it's actually rather good. And I mean, really really good. In the sense that this is a soap opera watched primarily by grannies and yet they've really taken the bull by the horns and done a decent job with showing this burgeoning relationship between two teenage girls. Sophie is 15 and realising she's gay and has fallen for her best mate Sian,16 (although they're both 18 in real life which means it's sort of ok to perv on them if that is your inclination).
What's different about this storyline in my eyes is the amount of non-explotational affection they show between them. In the sense that, yes their first kiss had a massive build up, but they've continued to kiss, and hug, and be all cute and adorable to more or less the same degree as their straighht counterparts. And the sky hasn't fallen in. And the storyline is still going. And no one has died yet.
So, in summary, Sian + Sophie = I am writing fic about them. Spiralling will be delayed- sorry!
Also, if anyone wants to catch up on their storyline some kind soul has uploaded the whole shebang to youtube here:
