black in black -Deathgaze @ 金沢AZ

I'm fairly certain that the drive from Kanazawa to Fukuchiyama is shorter than the drive from Fukuchiyama to Kanazawa.  I'm not sure how.  But it only takes me about 3 1/2 hours one way and about 4 1/2 the other.  And I've done it twice and both times it worked out that way.  Hmmm...Some strange time continuum in the middle of the expressway???

haha.

Saturday morning I left a little later than planned, but not enough to worry me.  I stopped at nearly every rest stop along the way just to stretch and wander around.  The best stops are between a city called Tsuruga and Kanazawa.  There are some very pretty ocean views, including beaches and cliffs.

I arrived in kanazawa at about 3pm.  Then it took me about 1/2 an hour to find a parking space near my hotel.  I ended up parking in a near-by convenience store's parking lot while checking in.  The hotel has parking, but once you park, it's for the entire evening and I needed my car yet to get to the venue.  So...after checking into my hotel I quickly got ready for the concert.  The all black dress code was worrying me a little bit, I'll be honest--how strict were they going to be?  My pants were pinstriped with GREEN.  Would it be OK?  lol.  I'm a worrier, it's what I do.  But I worried quickly.  Then I went and bought some dinner from the combini and sat in my car so it wouldn't get towed.

(my hair was still wet, but yea--all black)

I didn't get lost going to the venue, but I did get annoyed.  haha.  Once I've been someplace I'm quite good and remembering how to get there and around there, but this one lane kept turning into a turn lane on me and then I'd be forced to turn and then there was this giant maze of one way streets to get back around to where I wanted to be.  And I ended up driving through the museum-ish geisha housing and it was awkward 'cause I'm not entirely certain cars were allowed...OOPS.

I eventually found a parking space, parked the car, and walked the rest of the way to the venue.  Stupid roads.  :D

My ticket was one of the last tickets to be called.  again.  Pretty much always.  Starting November this might change 'cause I figured out how to do the pre-order through e-plus, BUT, the first concert I have is on a school day, so I'll be late anyway.  Maybe I'm just doomed to always have a bad ticket number?

There were four bands scheduled for the event: 9Goats Black Out, emmuree, -OZ-, and Deathgaze.

-OZ- was first.  They played 5, or maybe 6, songs.  Including one from their upcoming album.  It sounded like he called the song "English," but I know that's not right.  It was a ballad and gorgeous!!

When they finished a bunch of -oz- fans left their post in the front, so the entire crowd shifted forward, but somehow I ended up shifting more to the side than to the front.  I just followed the shift, unlike most of the other people I had no idea who was next until they began to warm up...

Deathgaze!!

Because of the shifting,  for the first time, I ended up on Takaki's side, next to a couple of extreme Takaki fans.  Takaki's fun.  He rarely ever talks, and you can tell he's such a metalhead.  He plays guitar like he's in an 80s speed metal band.  When he gets super into a song he gets this wide legged stance and his hair falls over his face...anyway...

Because it was an event they only played 7 songs (or 8 if you count the opening song thing):

SE
闇に雨 腐敗した世界
リヒトゾイレ
MY DOPED BRAIN & SKIN IS DEAD
SILENCE
domestic pig #1013
死桜
abyss

When Yami ni ame fuhai shita sekai started it was like the world melted.  Kousuke is back to using his black bass--all through the death summer he used the one with round edges and pearlescent coloring, but today he finally had the other one.  And the sound is so deep.  It fills all the space in your brain and your heart and your soul.  Yourself entirely wrapped in music.  I love it.

They all looked really good.  Like, maybe last time I saw them they were doing the tour and stressed about the new single and preparing for the DVD thing, and today they looked a little de-stressed.  maybe?  Also, Kousuke has been blabbering on and on about boxing/walking/exercising on his ameba/nau all the time, and you can tell.  He's totally lost weight/gained muscle definition in the past month-ish.  Ai appears to have been growing his hair out.  It's still super layered, and two toned, but some of the bottom, black layers are getting super long.  Longer than my hair, for sure.

They got away with playing more songs by not talking very much.  At the very end, after all the other members had walked off the stage, Ai just pointed out that their new single was coming out on the November 2nd and they were playing at Daikanayama on December 3rd.  Mostly because they didn't talk much I am happy to say, I understood everything that was said.  haha.  Ai speaks fairly slowly, which I really appreciate.  He's by far one of the easiest people for me to understand.  He also tends to use the same words a lot (I suppose most people have words they use more often though...) and since I've been reading his blog and learning his general vocabulary...it's nice to know what people are saying.  :)

After the set finished the girl behind me apologized for something (I suppose while she was headbanging her hair whipped me? lol.  I don't mind), I was all "no no no.  It's fine.  otsukaresama ne." and then followed them out to retrieve our drink tickets.  We ended up sitting in the smoking area drinking water ('cause I drove + the water bottles came with special wrapping with pics of the bands). *takaki fans are NICE and, apparently, not afraid to talk to the foreigner*

Due to parking I left early and didn't see the other two bands... :(

Today, I bought a ticket for AWOI's oneman October 22nd.   super looking forward to it.  On the 2nd I might go to a metal concert, if I can convince anyone to go...But Awoi will be my next for-sure concert.  Yesterday's concert is the first concert I've gone to in over a month and I can definitely feel it.  My neck/shoulders are still sore from only about two hours of concert.  The neck muscles get out of shape so quickly!!
