My literary intellectual input has been rather monotonous, if existent at all, lately. I've been reading the occasional tech book and magazine, primarily sticking to things remotely related to work. Or, I'll flip to the complete opposite end of the spectrum and only digest fictional candy, some great works of art, others fun tales of sci-fi or fantasy. Monotonous isn't quite right, polar, that's more like it.
(mental segue. I just envisioned the funeral preacher from Veronica's dream in the movie Heathers. "She underlined one word. Eskimo. That word says it all. Cold, remote, isolated, removed from the world" ... ok, so the word 'polar' made me think of that. and ok, that has absolutely no import save to expose my idiotic ADD sense of humor... and now back to the show)
Enter Houston Public Libraries. We've been checking out books on all kinds of random interests and reading, or in some cases, not reading as much as we feel like! No investment, not spending money and feeling obliged to read it. No, check it out, peruse and focus on content we like, read the whole thing, or give it back if it holds no interest. I know, I know, the Libraries have been around all our lives, we had to go to them all time in school. But but but, I took them for granted then! I love how we checked out "Aquarium's for Dummies" and used it to help us overcome the havoc we wreaked as new fish owners. I love how I've gotten books on bicycle maintenance, travelling in the Southwest, tuning pianos, training dogs. I've read some, Jamie's read others, and we usually share the good parts with the other. Bonus! Someone to share the homework load with!!
So, excuse me all, I have some brain food to injest regarding the trees of north america. ahhh, I love being able to freely follow whimsies...
