Interesting Bit About Deathly Hallows

Aug 17, 2007 11:07

(This journal is now completely filled with spoilers, natch!)

This morning, I was surfing for Deathly Hallows reviews and happened upon Christianity Today's. You can imagine my surprise when I read that both the Potters' and the Dumbledores' graves carry Biblical inscriptions.

"Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also."
- Dedication on the gravestone of Kendra and Ariana Dumbledore.

"For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."
- Matthew 6:21, New International Version

"The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death."
- Inscription on the gravestone of James and Lily Potter

"The last enemy to be destroyed is death."
- 1 Corinthians 15:26, New International Version

Here I'll admit to being slightly ashamed to not recognizing this at once (you'd never be able to tell I'm a preacher's kid), but isn't it fascinating? Apparently wizards are far more religious than we were ever led to believe in the books.

Just thought I'd share, f-list!
