List of movies I have seen in the past two weeks:
Over the Hedge
The Da Vinci Code
X-men: The Last Stand
List of movies I will see in the next two months:
Cars
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
Superman Returns
This is the first week in a fortnight that I haven't been out to the cinema. Next week, my family and I will probably go and see Cars, as we're all huge Pixar fans. But it's nice to have a bit of a reprieve. Besides, the only thing out this week is that horrible-looking Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn movie, which I have no desire to see.
However, I did go and rent movies, and I saw Zathura on Saturday. It was good, as all things Jumanji-verse are. Also, I want to know who played the astronaut, because he was kind of cute. Other films I watched this weekend were Back to the Future (for the third time), which was wonderful as always (Darth Vader from the planet Vulcan always makes me crack up), and the first part of Monsters Inc., which I have seen a great many times and enjoy immensely.
The movies I really want to talk about are the Harry Potter films, though. Funnily enough, when my now seven-year-old brother suggested watching Chamber of Secrets, I shuddered a little inside. As an eleven and later twelve-year-old, Sorcerer's Stone (Philosopher's Stone) and Chamber of Secrets were my favorite movies ever. But I can barely watch them for more than five minutes now. Actually, there are only about two scenes I really enjoy in the first two films - the chess scene in the first and the Chamber scene in the second. And I generally skip through the actual Basilisk fight in favor of the dialogue. In light of book six, it makes me feel excited, especially in regards to Harry/Ginny and the Horcruxes. As far as the former is concerned, what makes the scene so good is Rupert Grint's acting. Columbus held him back in the second film, IMO, and Cuaron continued this treatment in PoA (which was an otherwise excellent film). But the chess scene, at least for me, proves exactly why Rupert is the strongest actor of the three.
And... a yay for the lovely
fitzette and her husband
mr_fitz, who found out that they're having a little boy on Friday. Congratulations! (I wanted to post this earlier, but the power went out on Friday and Saturday was a busy day).
