The one HP question I hate more than any other because it makes my brain hurt with its complete ambiguity:

Is Snape evil?

Oh, Mia. You just had to start with the most aggravating question of the lot, didn't you?

The fact is that I change my mind all the time on this one. Some days I think that Snape was acting on Dumbledore's orders. Others I'm positive he was on Voldemort's side all along. And there are times when I'm sure that Snape is a free agent, working only for his own benefit.

Whatever the result, I think that Snape is a goner in book seven. I have to say I won't feel terribly sad when he does die, as I've never liked him. Of course, JKR, tricky genius that she is, might just find a way to make me sympathetic towards Snape. I never, ever thought I'd feel anything other than strong dislike for Draco Malfoy, but I felt so sorry for him in HBP.

Oki, follow up: Draco - redeemable or a hopeless case?

Draco will never be completely redeemed, I will say that much with conviction. After all, I can hardly expect him to run around hugging any Muggle-born in sight. But partial redemption is not out of the question. If he ends up helping Harry, I don't think it will be out of the goodness of his heart, but I don't think Draco will be inclined to aid Voldemort anymore either.

Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if Draco bought the farm in book seven. He's got Death Eaters on his tail, and his family isn't so well off with Voldemort anymore.

I agree with you about Snape being a marked man. I'm not sure if he's pure evil or what, but I think he's headed for doom.
