[Background] Lyle is the younger twin brother of Neil Dylandy aka Gundam Meister Lockon Statos for the organization Celestial Being committed to stopping war through the power of their Gundams. Lyle appears once in the first season leaving the graveyard where his sister is buried as Neil arrives and is mentioned in Neil’s soliloquy just before his death but like Neil, he lost his sister and parents in a terrorist attack. It is unclear canonwise which twin was present and or if they both were (they are never shown together). It is explained later Lyle had gone to boarding school since he was younger to avoid being compared to Neil, so that could be an explanation for his possible absence but it is not clear at what age Lyle started attending.
Four years after Neil’s death, Setsuna F. Seiei, another member of Celestial Being, approaches him and asks Lyle if he would like to try to change the world like his brother did years ago. Lyle is shocked by the news of his brother’s death and to learn that he still greatly resembles him. But Lyle agrees to join Celestial Being, taking up the codename of Lockon Stratos
Lyle is also a member of the organization Katharon, an anti-government group whom he reports to without the knowledge of most of the members of Celestial Being. This alliance with Katharon was the original reason, Lyle joined Celestial Being, but he does now seem to ally with them on his own. During training his piloting skills seem to barely above average but he steps it up in actual combat situations, he plays down his abilities to stop people from comparing him to Neil. Eventually, Lyle founds out the identity of the man who killed his older brother, Ali Al-Sacheez. However, Lyle does not wish to take revenge on the man or Setsuna, who reveals he was part of the same terrorist organization that killed Lyle’s family, saying that Neil was too driven by revenge and he wants to live for the future.
Lyle plays a crucial role in the Battle of Memento Mori, by combining his skills with Tieria, manages to take down the battleship of the enemy. This earns him much more respect amongst the crew of Celestial Being and even Tieria acknowledges him as “Lockon Stratos”. At the same time, Lyle develops a romantic relationship with a Celestial Being member named Anew Returner. She is new to the group and had never met Neil, and Lyle becomes instantly smitten with her. He enjoys talking to her and flirts with her after she catches him contacting Katharon. After a four month timeskip, the two are shown to be romantically involved and sleeping together. Though Anew has no memories of her past and when she spaces out, they get attacked by the enemy, Lyle keeps this hidden from the rest of the crew. He goes to far as to declare his love for Anew in front of the entire bridge crew, now citing her as his reason to fight.
[Personality]Lyle comes off on the surface as flippant and not very serious, even rather jerkish sometimes. This is mostly because of his efforts to keep people from comparing him to his brother, who Lyle saw most people seeing as the “better twin” fueling a severe inferiority complex. He will go out of his way to act in manners that Neil would never do to make sure that people know there is a clear distinction between them, even if that distinction ends up being seen as negative.
But at the same time, Lyle has a lot of respect and love for his brother and would never disrespect him in any manner. Lyle saw Neil become consumed and obsessed with revenge for the people who had killed their family and so vowed to not fall into the same path. Instead he coped by smoking to soothe the anxiety and appearing to never be serious about anything;
Lyle also comes off as a flirt but he’s actually a deeply romantic kind of guy to the point where it’s almost dangerous. He was looking for someone to fill that void left by all the losses in his life and when he meets Anew, a pretty girl who had never known his brother, he instantly goes into romancing her. And even when she has suspicious behavior, he ignores it and refuses to tell the rest of the crew because he believes he can help her. This is probably Lyle’s greatest weakness.
[Specialties/Abilities]Lyle is a skilled sniper and Gundam pilot just like his brother was, even if he downplays his abilities at times. He has a lot of knowledge about guns and various weapons between working with Katharon and Celestial Being.
Also, due to being a spy, Lyle is a master at dodging questions and getting around the truth. And even if it appears he’s given out something, it’s usually either a really good lie or a half truth that sounds 100% true. Lyle expertly comes across as a casual guy and very inconspicuous.
[Affection] Lyle has a waifu whom he loves dearly and is monogamous to. But he's not above playful flirting so people understand HE IS NOT NEIL DAMMIT.
[Fighting] D-don't kill Lyle, everything he loves already dies, he doesn't need more ;n;
[Other Facts] LYLE IS NOT A SPY, DON'T ASK HIM ABOUT BEING A SPY, BECAUSE HE'S NOT AND HAS NEVER BEEN.
