Birthday travel

Mar 27, 2004 02:56

I arrived in Boise on Friday and my dad picked me up. We rushed back to the Capitol to see if the legislature would finish that day. They didn't. So we went back to his apartment and dropped off my stuff and he got casual. We went to a local hang our for the legislatures where they rehashed the day and expectaition for their last day on Sat. It was kind of fun and the lobbists bought us dinner. On Sat. he got up early and had Education committe to finsih up a last bill. They didnt finish until Sat. at 5:45. It was cool to watch dad at work though and I did a little shopping. I haven't watched him sponsor a bill in awhile and the debates are always interesting. We drove the 2hrs home and had dinner with my mom. Then we all crashed. Sunday we took it easy and had my grandparents over for dinner so they could bask in my presence. They gave me a reprint of an old photo of my great-grandparents and great-great grandparents and family at the greatx2 50th wedding anniversary. Pretty cool to see who looks like who. On Monday we went out to the Thousand Springs area to hike around the Nat. Fossil Monument where the "Hagerman" horse was found. They deliberately won't tell you where the fossil beds actually are because of all the vandalism but we had fun seeing all the desert flowers in bloom and just being together. We even had local catfish for lunch. A special not for Cat: I really missed my fishing pole- the fish were hopping in that river! Home to a little TV and bed. Tuesday (my birhday) mom and I did a couple errands in town and I spent the afternoon with my grandparents. Helped G-ma plant flowers and spring clean the garden plus had a good time going through the albums she had been redoing of all the greats. G-pa had some photos of his army unit who dropped anywhere in Europe as mobile airplane mechanics. I got him to talk a bit about his memories and that was really special. We went out to dinner with everyone for my birthday and Dad's and I got to see my uncle who took a break from harrowing for the occassion. I spent a quiet night at home and did some stargazing before we left for Boise and the airplane the next morning. It was hard to say goodbye especially on Dad's birthday but I was also missing Kyle alot by this time too. So home again, and back to work.
