That's a gorgeous photo of St. Mark's Square. My great grandparents took an around the world trip around 1900 and one of the things they brought back was a large hand-colored photograph of the Square framed behind glass. When my grandmother passed away I asked if I could have it, and it's been hanging in my apartment ever since.

In 1900? Without the benefit of planes and cars, that must have been a hell of an adventure!

Wow. I bet that was an amazing trip, and I love those old hand tinted photos, they're always so nice. Sounds like a great treasure.

My aunt has been transcribing the journal that my great grandmother made during the trip, and I found these entrires

Wow, that is a great photo of St. Mark's square - had it been raining? and Jonathan - that journal sounds amazing. Tht she both kept a journal and the journal has stayed with the family is a great gift.
