Bishop had a really good niece, it looked like. A guy who didn't know WHAT the hell was going on, who anyone was, or any sort of Nexus-useful info at all, it's a pretty good thing that Yumi stuck with him. Besides, she was saying that she'd take him to Shard! And what could be bad about that ( Read more... )

"Oh, that's no problem." Yumi smiles, pulling out her PINpoint. Which is somewhat more compact than most of the ones of this time. Hers is a FUTURE PINpoint, after all. "Here, just stand close." Which is, of course, code for, 'Here, let me grab you and hang on tight'.

She punches in a code which teleports them to a spot in a sunny, if rundown section of a town. An alleyway, to be precise. She steps away, grabbing his hand and pulling along. "Come on, this way!"

Oh man, FUTURE PINpoints? While we're at it, what's the tally of idiots trying to invade the Nexus in her time? Oh well, questions for another day.

And while he is clung to and feels that gut-wrenching sense of dislocation again, things start to come back a little.. But right now, alleyways are an old home and he's running along with her.

Waaait. What's with the palm trees?

This isn't anything like the Academy. For one, all the buildings around them are still in one piece. Mostly in need of a new coat of paint and possibly some structural problems, but still mostly good.

Yumi pulls him toward a two-story building that looks like an apartment building. Which turns out to be an apartment building, actually. She leads him upstairs, knocking on the door.

Shard's actually just out of the shower, hair up in a towel on her head. She frowns at the knock, heading over to open the door. "Hello..." She trails off, smiling. "Yumi! Good to see you!" She hugs the girl, then looks past her and stops. Stares.

That DOES seem off, of course, but what's with the bits of NATURE? And the suspiciously clean air? Doesn't this place know it's supposed to be a cyberpunk semi-wasteland!? Honeslty, cities today.

Okay, okay, people living in unbroken buildings, he can probably get used to that, this has some nagging familiarity to it.. Wait.

WHAT.

....

WHAT.

....

"Sh.. Shard!?"
