oh Happy Day! i have taken my last test...i have written my last paper...i am unofficially a college graduate...LOL.
it feels great.
i thought i'd be sad to leave IUS, but the book return people pissed me off, so then i was glad. my exit remark to the man who exchanged my used books for cash was: "that's okay. i don't have to donate my money anymore." he tried to tell me my book came with a CD. i tried to tell him it did not because i always keep the CDs in my backpack during the entire semester so i have it at the end to return the book. his comment was "well, the other 75 people who returned this book had the CD." fucking asshole! so instead about $50-$60 for the book with CD, i got $20. i paid about $300 for my books this semester, and when i returned them, i got $87.50.
however, it's over!!! :)
when i went to turn in my creative nonfiction paper, i had to go to Knobview - for the first time this semester - and guess who i saw?!?! Zach! i haven't seen him this entire semester (or since we "dated"). it was nice to see him. i only visited for about 5 minutes because he was studying.
last night, i watched a florist shop in Salem burn to the ground. it has been around longer than me, i think. I got home from school at about 7:15 pm last night (i drove right past it.) my aunt called at about 7:30 pm to tell us it was on fire (she lives across the street from it). we could see the smoke from my house. then, my brother called from work to tell us. he said they were the first one to see the flames shooting out of the building and they called 911. so we went to my aunt's house to see. we stood on the porch for nearly two hours watching the fire. just as soon as it seemed they had it under control, flames were shooting from the roof again. finally, it seemed to be out at about 10 pm, so we went home. my aunt said again at about 1 am, flames were shooting out of the building. firefighters were still there at 6 am this morning, and the building is still smoldering right now. i can tell where it definitely burned after we left because when we thought it was down - all the walls of the building were still standing. now most of them are gone. i was disappointed because i ran out of the house so fast i didn't even grab a camera. i actually didn't imagine it was as serious as it was. my mom said the journalist in me woulda remembered the camera...LOL. it's probably the most exciting thing we'll see around here for awhile. my mom and aunt work with the two owners, and they said that yesterday at work the owners were talkin about how they didn't know how they were goin to pay for a shipment of flowers that had just arrived. guess they won't have to now! it seems kinda fishy to me. it reminded me that there is a journalist in me - somewhere - because i really wanted to be down there takin pictures and writin that story.
