What an odd curse. I couldn't determine if it was attractiveness that people seemed to be drawn to or intelligence or...other qualities. That and most of you sounded like society gossips, although then there would be someone, doubtless, muttering about the quality of youth and the corrupt moral values of the time ( Read more... )

Yes, for a start, and most of them had very little proof that there should be a match. Planning a pair based on their hair colour is a little thin. You can match horses for a carriage that way, but that's about the extent of it.

Frankly, hair color makes about as much sense as class standing. Although perhaps that's a sign of my moral downfall as a young man of breeding.

Something like that, perhaps. I know of some people who'd set a match based on class standing, so that doesn't seem too far-fetched to me.
