Name: Donna Noble
Canon: Doctor Who

Character & Media Information: http://tardis.wikia.com/wiki/Donna_Noble

Character Perception: Donna is a fiery, independent woman. She is not afraid to speak her mind - loudly; her tongue is sharp, and her wit sharper. But beneath a brash, confident front lies a far less confident, almost insecure side. Donna doesn't believe she is worth anything; she dismisses claims that she is 'brilliant' by insisting she is 'just a temp'. The Meta-Crisis Doctor told Donna he believed her attitude is because she truly believes that she is unimportant and that she is "Shouting at the universe, because she thinks no one is listening." A point that made her uncomfortable, begging him to stop it.

When she was six years old, her mother told her there would be no holiday that year, so she boarded a bus to Strathclyde, showing from an early age her sheer stubbornness and self-reliance.

Her travels with the Doctor changed her from a self-obsessed, trivial, bitter woman into a compassionate, intelligent, caring one. She became a sort of moral anchor for him, insisting that sometime he needed someone to stop him. He fast became her best friend, and being with him made her a better person, but a lot of that was lost when her memories were wiped.

Timeline: End of Time - after waking up, but before her wedding.

Ticket: "Congratulations from Bridal Weekly, this ticket will allow you, the bride, to travel to your wedding in style in a luxury helicopter."

Inventory:
  • The clothes she’s wearing - a wedding dress (with pockets), satin court shoes, veil, tights, wedding garter.
  • Jewellery - necklace, bracelet, watch, engagement ring, costume ring, earrings.
  • A mobile phone
  • Her TARDIS key (although she doesn’t know what it’s for, it’s just a key she carries for good luck.)

Additional Notes: Donna is taken from after her memory was wiped, but slowly things are coming back to her. In a similar way the Doctor said Agatha Christie never truly forgot, sort of. "I don't think she ever quite forgot. A great mind like that? Some of the details kept bleeding through."

    Role Play Sample:

Donna wasn't sure what had prompted her to visit Pompeii, but a niggling in the back of her mind hadn't gone away until the tickets were in her hand. Her mum had even paid more than half, something that made Donna suspicious. She couldn't understand why her mum was nicer to her these days - probably because she was engaged to a decent man and as soon as they could afford to move into their own flat she'd be out of her mum's hair.

Pompeii took Donna's breath away. She didn't know what she had been expecting - a lump of hardened lava with some body shapes in it perhaps, but this? It was amazing. If she closed her eyes she could picture how it must've been. The busy streets, the people going about their daily lives blissfully unaware of the ticking time bomb above them.

The tour guide was babbling on about something or other, when someone raised their hand and asked the simple question; 'how many died?' Donna didn'’t hear the tour guide's answer because a voice in her head was speaking over it. "But... that's the choice, Donna. It's Pompeii or the world." ... "Push this lever and it's over. 20,000 people."

A pain tore through her head and she squeezed her eyes shut - a bad mistake. She could see the fire and ash, people were screaming and running frantically. They were scared and they were dying. And she was helpless. No one would listen to her advice, they were all too panicked to listen to her. She was crying and she was running through the fire and ash - just like in her dreams - and sure enough, just ahead of her was the man in the suit.

She rubbed at her temples as the pain subsided, tears rolling down her face. The tour guide held out a bottle of water to her and she accepted it. They were sat on a bench, away from the rest of the group. Donna couldn't remember moving to it, but she assumed the tour guide must've helped her.

"Sorry..." she murmured, looking just a little embarrassed by the whole thing.

"Don’t be. Pompeii has that effect on some people," the tour guide assured her. Although the effect it had had on her went far deeper than most. Even now she could still feel the heat of the flames on her skin, and the ash and smoke choking her, and somewhere in the back of her mind she could hear herself begging - pleading - with the man in the suit to save them...
