Tyred

Changed my back tyre, chain and cassette.
Getting the old tyre off was a pain. Ended up cutting the bead to get it over the rim. Thought I was just being crap. Pulled the tube out just leaving pulling the remaining bead off the wheel. Always an easy job. Nope. Had to cut that bead too. Don't know how the manufacturer got them on in the first place but there was a bit of (strong) woven plastic tape in there, I don't believe they went on in the normal way.
One time I had a tyre where I had to be very careful that it was mounted perfectly even all round or the inner tube would just pop out. I preferred that to this nonsense.
New tyre went on OK, more difficult than normal but not ridiculous.
Changing the cassette was fine.
Connecting the new chain was another ordeal though. The "Shimano reinforced connecting pin" comes separate from the chain with a front bit that's supposed to go through the chain first then snap off. What actually happened was it snapped off straight away leaving a loose pin that didn't want to go through the hole. Got it in eventually but that link is now stiff and refuses to loosen. I'll be buying Sram chains in future.

Used the circular saw to trim the drilling jig so it'll fit under the pillar drill.
Note to self: When I adjust the cut depth I need to correct the angle of the blade. Didn't actually matter for this job, but still annoying.
On the plus side the clamping cutting guide I bought for my mum a couple of years ago (... checks notes: 2008!) and am currently borrowing worked very well.
