I was expecting that the first two bands, Tyler Read and Fair to Midland would not be that great. My expectation was that they would be bands like Chevelle, but not as good. I was pleasantly surprised when the opening band did not suck ass (Like whatever that crappy band was at the Killswitch show). In fact, I would rate Tyler Read a 'decent', if you like this kind of music. I was impressed enough by Fair to Midland to find their album and give it a shot. They put forth a lot of energy during the show, with their vocalist going nuts and getting tangled in his mic chord during the instrumental sections. Chevelle was not as good live as I had hoped, though they were still quite good. The overall experience was somewhat colored by the fact that the venue (Stubb's BBQ) is standing room only, and it was really packed. Fat drunk guys grinding against me, even by accident, is not a favorable listening environment.
