At the beginning of September NASA is having a field test in the desert. They've severely restricted the number of people going, so initially we didn't even try to get a spot for me on the mission. However, a while ago it was pointed out that I might be able to get a spot anyway. I've been trying to get a decision made one way or the other on this for like three weeks, but only just heard this morning that I've been added to the official travel list. This means that I'll definitely be spending at least a week, possibly two weeks, in Flagstaff somewhere, spending most of the day in a hot tent watching numbers scroll by on a laptop. I'm not certain how useful my presence will be, but it'll at least be a change of pace from the office.
Also, in preparation for all this I've been working what I feel like is a lot of overtime, even though it comes out to only like an extra 10 hours a week.
