The new system arrived on Wednesday, but I've only really finished setting it up most of the way today. I'll still be finding programs that I need to install for months, but that's not a big deal, I've installed all the ones that I use the most. I've set up the flat panel that showed up with the laptop next to me. It's very nice, though I wish that it could be closer to the same resolution as this screen. It's weird to drag things over to the other monitor and suddenly they get huge.

I was having trouble connecting to my desktop (there's always been a problem connecting two machines that are both plugged into this hub, not sure why), so Blake pointed out that I should use Hamachi to get through the network crappyness. I set up a private network for just my two computers, and tested out the connection by copying my steam cache. It worked well, and much more easily than the little progress that I had had working with the conventional network setup stuff. So I've mapped my desktop's hard drives as network drives on the laptop so that I can have 500 gb available to store things. This should even allow me to connect when I take the laptop other places.
