Kamiki was turning from one side to another. He seemed uneasy and uncomfortable with his bed. For some sort of reason, his bed got smaller than usual and his blanket were kind of stock into a weight that he can’t pull it out. He was too sleepy to open his eyes. It’s Saturday and he usually wake up at noon. He kept moving trying to comfort himself. He pulled his blanket again. It’s getting colder in his room. He had put the air condition at 20 degrees, and it felt like ice land. He kept pulling the blanket.
“Stop that.” At first he ignored the voice that he was sure unfamiliar but as he heard a slight moan next to him, very close to him, he pulled his back off.
“What?” his eyes were all in big balls as he saw a figure under his blanket-completely sealed with the white sheet. Kamiki was so nervous that he started to panic. He gulped before giving the blanket a quick snap. He was more surprise at what he saw.
“What the hell is wrong with you?” a girl went out of his blanket revealing her beautiful face and curly hair. Her eyes were held close as she scratched the back of her hair.
Kamiki jumped off his bed as he realized it was a girl. He was too nervous as his words came slipping out of his mouth in cracks. “W-W-What are you doing here? And who are you?” he was quite sure he hadn’t brought a girl over. He doesn’t do that, especially inside his room, in his bed?
She continued scratching the back of her curly hair. She was beautiful. She was wearing a white sleeveless whole dress, and she became prettier with it. “My name is Mariya.” She said looking at the stunned Kamiki.
“How did you get here?” he asked.
Mariya pointed on the ceiling. “I fell from there.”
“Eh?” Kamiki gulped. “O. Kay. I don’t know what’s you’re talking about, but I’m sure I had nothing to do with you. And I don’t even know you…so go out now.” He gently pulled Mariya’s arm as they headed on the door.
“Wait.” She snapped Kamiki’s hands before he could open the door. “I’m Mariya and you’re the chosen one.”
“Eh?” Now Kamiki was pretty convinced that this pretty girl is out of his mind. “I don’t get you.”
“I’m Mariya.” She repeated. “And I fell from there.” Pointing at the ceiling.
“You know what’s clear? That would be your name, but saying that you fell from the roof is pretty weird.” He gave her hand gestures.
She glared at her. “I fell from above.”
“Uh. From above. Like an angel, a fallen angel.” He mocked.
Mariya shook her head. “I’m a hell girl.”
“Eh? You said you fell from above, but you’re what? A hell girl?”
“Yeah. I’m a demon.”
He was forcing himself not to burst out a laugh because what he wanted to do now is laugh until his heart content.
“Everytime a hell girl celebrates its 18th birthday, they are given by the Demon King a chance to live in the mortal world and experience being a human.” She said smiling. “And since, I fell on you, that means you’re my guardian.”
Kamiki still held his laugh with the girl’s crazy testimony. “Mm. But why me?”
“I don’t know, they said, guardians were reincarnated demons.”
“Eh?” Kamiki’s eyes moved epically as he absorbed the statement that simply means he was a demon on his past life and now reincarnated as human.
She nodded.
“Okay, I’m through with fooling around.” He paused, looking serious.
She glared at him as she crossed her arms over her chest. “You want proof?”
Kamiki came speechless as Mariya snapped her fingers and lit her hands on flames. But before Kamiki could stop her, she had already thrown the flames from her hand to the air condition.
“Uh. What have you done?” he tried to stop his aircon from burning but he just panicked.
Mariya snapped her fingers again and the flames went off, giving him a naughty blink.
“UUhh. I’m dead. This won’t work no more.”
“Tch. I had wanted to burn that earlier for freezing me.”
“What are you?”
She smiled creepily. “I’m a hell girl.”
+++++

Kamiki found himself following Mariya inside the mall. He was feeling mixed emotions. But he’s sure, fear is dominant.
Today, at her 18th birthday, the hell girl wanted to go shopping. She was also craving to try human food.
Kamiki was panting due to nervousness. He was so scared they hadn’t misunderstood the human food from human food that literally means ‘human as a food’.
“Anyway guardian, what’s you name.” She asked him while walking.
“Me?” He pointed himself as he refused to give her his name. “Anou. Kamiki…Ryunosuke.”
“Ohhh. That’s ice cream, right?” Pointing at the ice cream stand.
Before Kamiki can say ‘yes’, she had already grabbed him on a run.
Mariya was licking her vanilla ice cream. “This is cool. It burns on your mouth.”
He tilted his head in confusion. “You’re eating cold, they don’t burn.”
“Anyway, your name is really long.”
“Really?”
She nodded. “Yeah. We should cut it out.”
Kamiki gulped. ‘cut.’ He held his neck. He was getting imaginative.
“How do people address you, guardian?”
He placed his eyes up. “Mmm…A lot.”
‘but never guardian’ he thought.
“A lot?” Mariya repeated.
“Not literally but people call me in different nicknames.”
“Oh, nicknames.” He pointed her fingers. “I know that.”
He nodded. He was just relieved that he will no more explain it to her.
“What about Ryun? Ooohhh…Those clothes looks nice.”
He blinked before Mariya pulled him into a store.
She grabbed a skirt and tapped it on her waist as she looked in front of the mirror. “It’s cute.”
“How about you? How do people, I mean…” he paused as he checked both sides. And when he found no one’s too close to hear him, he continued. “…demons call you?”
“Mariya.” She answered. “That’s the only name I’ve got.” As she grabbed more hanged clothes.
“I see.” Kamiki nodded to himself.
“Ryun, what do you think?” She was already fitting a flesh colored mini skirt and white collared blouse. It was a flash.
Kamiki was so stunned as he can only nod.
She smiled sweetly before going back on the fitting room.
Kamiki blinked many times. He knew he spaced out. She was too pretty for a demon.
“Thank you.” The saleslady handed Kamiki the bags of clothing Mariya just bought.
Kamiki continued following the girl who was off of her black dress and now on her previously fitted clothes, with a pair of pink sandals. With her look, Kamiki doubted she’s a hell girl, she was more like an angel. Okay, she might not like that-maybe let’s change ‘angel’ to ‘model’.
She really looked like a model.
“Ryunosuke, takuyaki.” He excitedly pointed at the takuyaki stand. “I want some.” She demanded.
He sighed. “Fine.”
She followed Ryunosuke.

“Two please.” He hand signed the vendor.
“Ryunosuke, what’s inside those balls?” Mariya asked.
“Octopus and some vegetables.” He answered.
“Uhh. That sounds good.”
Kamiki laughed silently.
“Here’s your order, sir. ”
“Thank you.” Mariya grabbed one on the old lady’s hand and shoved a takuyaki in her mouth.
“Be careful, you’re messing.” Kamiki said concerned.
“Oishii.” She grabbed another ball uncarefully.
Kamiki sighed. “You don’t listen to me.”
The lady smiled at them. “My husband and I looked just like you both when we were still dating. My husband was a concerned boyfriend too.” She covered her mouth as she tried to hide her blush.
Kamiki forced a laugh. “Ha-ha-ha. You’r-“
“Boyfriend?” Mariya asked before swallowing her last takuyaki.
“Uh…Thank you so much.” Kamiki bowed on the lady as she pushed Mariya lightly, walking out.
He sighed, now walking side by side Mariya.
“Kamiki-kun!!!”
Kamiki was taken a back as he saw two of his classmates, Nozomi and Shougo approaching him.
“Uh. Nozomi-chan. Shougo.”
Mariya just looked at both parties.
Shougo looked at Mariya, then elbowed Kamiki with a smirk. “So this is the new girl you’re dating.”
“Eh? No! This is a misunderstanding.” Kamiki protested.
“She’s pretty.” Nozomi looked closer to Mariya.
Mariya just blinked before looking at up the stiffened Kamiki.
“You should be careful with bad guys. Your boyfriend is such a klutz. He can’t be such a help in terms of brawling, he can easily get beaten.” Nozomi whispered.
Kamiki turned on Nozomi. “Nozomi-chan.”
Nozomi winked as Shougo moved closer to her and walked ahead. “Bye.”
Kamiki sighed. “Finally, they’re gone.”
“Ne Ryunosuke.”
“What?”
“Are you my boyfriend?”
“HHUH??” Kamiki forced a laugh. “No.” He shook his head. “You only call a guy your boyfriend if you like him and …he likes you back.”
“Are we dating?”
“No.” He shook his head again. “I’m your guardian, right?”
She tilted her head, slightly raising her shoulders and walked ahead. Kamiki blinked many times before he followed and a question came on his head ‘does demon feel love?’
“I’m hungry.”
“Huh? You had just-”
Mariya walked ahead.
“Wait. Mariya.” He followed her.

They found themselves inside a Japanese restaurant, doing hot pot and grill. They both sat in the floor and Kamiki fan the grilling pork.
“Aren’t those done yet?” Mariya said resting her cheek in her palm.
“No. You don’t want to eat raw, do you?”
“But I’m starving.”
“Stay patient.” Kamiki was not just telling that to her, also to himself. He was getting annoyed of continuously fanning the grill but no progress.
“Want some help?” She asked.
“No. I’m fine.” Sweating, he was too focused on the grill.
Mariya rolled her eyes. She drummed her fingers on the table before sipping a bowl of misou soup. “Uhh!!! I can’t wait anymore.”
“UUhhh!!!” Kamiki yelled as he saw Mariya’s hands in flames and threw it straight on the grill. Customers started to panic as they saw Kamiki and Mariya’s table burning. It became a mini hell.
“Ooops. I think I overdid it.” Mariya uttered.

Kamiki bowed casually. “I’m really sorry for what happened. I’m really sorry.”
“As long as you’ll pay for the damages.” The manager of the restaurant said.
“Y-Yes, I will.”
The manager turned around and grumbled to herself. “I don’t understand why it burned.”
Kamiki tilted his head. “Dead meat.” They started walking outside. “I’ve charged it on Dad’s account. Who would think that table is too expensive. What will I do?”
He heard Mariya uttered at his back. “Tch. I hadn’t even got to eat properly.”
“How can you be more concern with that?”
“Do you want me to set the entire restaurant on fire for revenge?” Mariya lifted her hands, giving some flaming gestures.
Kamiki held her in the arms as he panicked at what can a hell girl can do. “No. Stop that.”
They continued walking.
“So, what else do you wanna do?” He asked before sighing.
“Eat.”
“Don’t you eat in hell?”
“Shut up or I’ll burn your butt.”
Kamiki gulped.

Kamiki can only sigh as he heard a loud embarrassing slurp next to him.
“Another bowl of ramen, please.” Mariya raised her arm calling the chef’s attention.
They ended up into a ramen stand. Mariya had just her second bowl, going third.
She thanked the ramen chef as soon as her third bowl came. Kamiki had just to look at her.

“UUhh~ I’m full.” Mariya said touching her tummy.
Kamiki chuckled.
“What are you laughing at?” She looked at the guy walking with her.
He shook his head. “You’re impressive.” And walked ahead.
Mariya blinked many times before she smiled, following Kamiki.
“Ne~ Ryunosuke.”
Kamiki stopped and looked at Mariya over his shoulders before completely facing her. “What is it?”
“Serious question needs serious answer-“
He moved a brow.
“Do you like me?” She said all of a sudden.
“Eh?”
She never repeated it, instead stared at Kamiki as she waits for his answer.
“Well,” he started. “…Yeah... I do.”
She smiled at the guy in front of her. “That makes you my boyfriend.”
“Huh?” That was then he remembered. ‘You only call a guy your boyfriend if you like him and …he likes you back.’ She stared at the sight of Mariya who just happened to walk pass him.
She stopped to look back at him.
He gulped. “You-You’re now…my girlfriend?” He can’t believe it. For some reason, it’s all Mariya’s decision. ‘But…not bad.’ He thought.
Mariya shook his head. “No.” She smiled sweetly before saying…
“I’m your HELL GIRL.”

Author’s Note:
One way or another, I didn’t know how did I get this concept. It’s funny though-the thought of mixing a pinch of fantasy to it.
Actually, I’ve plan to make the story quiet about love or something, but I end up emphasizing that matter.
And one way or another, I’m really curious about this pairing. I wonder what chemistry they had on television. >///<. For some reason, it excites me. Kamiki is a gentle guy while Mariya can be hyper and moody. They clash for instance, but this time, let’s apply ‘opposites do attract’.
I was just curious what will happen to their story after Kamiki got a hell girl as a girlfriend. Hehe…It’s gonna be one HELL of a trouble.
But it’s oneshot, they’re safe.
