"Mm... very kind of you." Walter smiled and found that spot that was their perfect fit together. Soon enough calls of nature, stomach, and nicotine would force him out of bed for at least a few minutes, but for now he was going to enjoy this.
"It will take more than a bit of extra sleep for me to be bored, though."
It was debatable whether it was bravery or foolhardiness that had Walter as comfortable as he was with Dracula at his throat.
Someone who knew him intimately would know it was addiction after a fashion. A cheap fix for his love of adrenaline.
If that had been all there was to his relationship with Vlad, there would be no relationship. Perhaps Alucard, unwilling and bound servant to the Hellsing family would accept it because he could have nothing else, but Vlad, free citizen would not.
Fortunate, then, for both of them that the minor adrenaline fix was just a pleasant side-effect.
One that had Walter shift until they were chest to chest and wrap his arms around his lover in a tight embrace.
Vlad made a contented sound as Walter's body heat began to seep into his own cool skin. He rested his forehead against Walter's and closed his eyes to listen to the steady thrum of his lover's heart.
Walter smiled in response to Vlad's sound and closed his own eyes, enjoying their silent communion.
After a time, he broke the silence. "Did you hear the church bells earlier?" It was Sunday morning, so church bells weren't shocking, but it had seemed quite early for it.
"I didn't hear any shouts or sounds of fighting, so I went back to sleep."
His eyelids flickered open for a moment as Vlad brushed his hair back before he closed them again.
"You of all people should know how to sleep late," he murmured, shifting closer against the vampire.
