Welcome to another edition of Douchey Moments in History!

"Don't you know that I want to be with you, too?"
Here we get to see Noah give the lamest excuse in the history of the universe as to why he's not ready to have sex with Luke. I know that the real reason for this was because of lame ass ATWT/P&G/CBS politics regarding NOT showing gay sex, ( Read more... )

Noah = Douche!
Everyone here = MADE OF WIN!

In terms of trying to understand canon Noah (you know, past the fact that's he's a selfish, hypocritical, emotionally abusive douchetard), I did see his father's fake death as a real turning point for him. Suddenly, he doesn't want to have sex with Luke, he desperately wants to jump back in the closet he was just dragged out of, he amps his outward abusive behavior back up to the level it was at when he first kissed Luke.

The whole election storyline, even before he pulled the "I cannot tell a lie" bullshit, was all sorts of wrong. Noah is clearly uncomfortable with Luke championing gay rights, and can't see any motivation past (IMO) the only motivation he would have, getting back at someone. I remember being so confused at the time, because Noah was all "This is all about Kevin, isn't it?" And I felt like the show wanted me to believe this, but NOTHING ELSE that was playing out on my screen was validating it. Luke was concerned that Kevin was running for president, but seemed reassured at first through the conversation they had, and then as events played out, he got understandably and justifiably outraged at the tactics the campaign had taken, and determined that Kevin and his peeps could not have any part in making decisions for the school.

Yeah, the writing by that point was pretty amazingly sloppy and sometimes it was really hard to tell what point the writers were trying to make. Like with this story, IMO there's no question that Luke was right and everyone else was wrong, but then they have Luke go and do something stupid like steal a student election and start drinking, and it kinds of robs any moral authority Luke appeared to have up until that point.

Or there's another story a few months later, where their friend Reg dies of a drug overdose, and Luke is convinced Elwood and some mysterious person called "M" are the ones responsible, and he is hell bent on proving it. And to all appearances it seems like Luke is just batshit crazy with grief and has gone off the deep end, and EVERYONE (Noah, Lily and Holden, Margo) all keep trying to talk Luke down and tell him to leave the murder investigation to the police, and it really, really seems like he SHOULD.... only then they catch the killer, and not only was Luke right all along, but Noah even admits that Luke's refusal to give up is the reason they caught the guy. It's like one of the most NON-douchey Noah moments ever!

So what is the point? That someone can seem right and still be wrong? That someone can seem completely obsessed and more than a little batshit crazy and still be the sanest person around? I mean, serious, ATWT, WTF? No wonder your stupid show got canceled!
