Apparently a day or so has passed; Luke comes into Noah's hospital room and asks if there have been any changes. Noah tells him that he can see light and dark and some colors, but that shapes are mostly blurry. Hey, Noah? I believe the word you were looking for there was "No."
Noah tells Luke about how he'd gone looking for him the other day and had heard him arguing with Reid but couldn't make out what was going on. He asks Luke what they'd been fighting about and Luke flashes back to the Face Stroke of Epic TendernessTM, then proceeds to evade Noah's question, claiming he doesn't remember.
Noah starts pawing at Luke's hand and oh-so-generously gives Luke permission to worry about him. Gee, what a prince! Who wouldn't want to date a guy like that :|
When Reid comes in to examine Noah, Luke gets up and moves across the room. Luke and Reid are both kind of awkward with each other, but they manage to squeeze in a couple seconds of eye sex before Reid leaves the room.
Noah picks up on the fact that there had been something weird about the way Dr. Oliver was acting. Naturally, he assumes Luke must be to blame and tells Luke to go and apologize for whatever he did wrong. Rooftop Luke makes a brief reappearance, giving Noah a bitch face and asking "For what?" Noah doesn't really have an answer to that, but presses the issue anyway, so Luke goes to find Reid, but not to apologize like Noah wanted.
Luke tells Reid that he doesn't want to lie to Noah anymore, then they proceed to have a conversation where IMO they're really having two slightly different conversations and neither of them realizes it.
Luke is having a conversation about how he wants to tell Noah the truth about what's going on because he's confused about his feelings and isn't sure what he wants. He needs time to figure out who he wants to be with and doesn't want to leave Noah just assuming they'll get back together.
Reid, OTOH, is having a conversation where it's already a foregone conclusion that Luke will end up back with Noah. In his mind, the only point to telling Noah anything would be to relieve Luke's guilty conscience. Believing that, he doesn't see the point in making Noah upset while he's still recovering from major surgery. He even goes so far as to tell Luke that if he tells Noah something's going on between them he'll be guaranteeing that Noah will never see again.
Back in Noah's hospital room, The Douche is whining to Alison about how he wants things with Luke to go back to the way they were before the accident. He actually admits to Alison that he'd really hurt Luke and that the distance Luke is keeping is all his fault. Yeah, um, Noah? If you're actually aware of that, but still haven't bothered to take the time to say all this to Luke and apologize to him, then you're even more of a douche than I already thought, and I wouldn't have thought that could be possible.
Meanwhile, Luke and Reid continue to argue over whether or not Luke should tell Noah the truth. Reid remains quite adamant that honesty is NOT the best policy and that Luke shouldn't say anything to Noah.
A little later, Luke comes in as Reid is examining Noah and asks if he can take Noah outside. Reid is less than thrilled with the idea, but gives his consent.
Back at Katie's place, Reid is consumed with thoughts of Luke and Noah spending time together. Katie notices that he's upset about something and invites him to come to the park with her and Jacob. Reid, of course, can't go because he's much too busy moping and hugging a pillow.
Luke has taken Noah out by a pond where Noah gushes about how amazing it is that he can see colors. (Wow, Reid really is an incredible surgeon because I mainly see various shades of brown.) Noah then goes on to say that he finally has something positive in his life... because, you know, having Luke in love with him and willing to do anything for him? That couldn't possibly count as something positive!
It all ends with Noah making noise about how great it is that he and Luke have this time alone, just the two of them, so they can really talk. Tune in next time so you can see just how quickly Noah discovers something more important than listening to anything Luke has to say.
