Welcome to another edition of Douchey Moments in History!

"This is my... Luke Snyder"
This is only a minorly douchey moment, in the sense of it not being outright mean or cruel or anything, but IMO it really illustrates something about Noah's character. Luke had moments earlier stood up to Noah's father and declared that he loved Noah. When Noah ( Read more... )

"The thing that makes it extra crispy douchey for me is that Luke and Noah could not get married themselves, and watching Noah, all smiles, marry a woman, was just extra salt in the wound. And how the Snyders were almost acting like it was a real wedding day. Gah."

This is one of the things that got to me the most, besides Noah's obvious lack of noticing or hell even asking Luke what his feelings were about him marrying a woman he doesn't even know. The fact that Lily and Holden actually went along with the whole entire sickening nuptials that's what's sad. I mean seriously, wouldn't you think that Luke's parents would have understood his point of view about all of this? That Noah getting married made Luke feel like he's wasn't important, like he was getting tossed aside like yesterday's garbage? That he felt like Noah didn't care about him at all. No, instead Lily and Holden seemed to act like Noah was their own son (which I guess is true, because they kinda adopted him without really adopting him at first) and gave him this really wonderful wedding with all the trimmings, and smiled serenely like there wasn't a care in the world, while Luke is looking all sad and depressed in the background. It just really hurts to see that on top of Noah's doucheyness, his parents had to get into the act too. That's the way I saw it, anyways.

Okay, rant over. It felt good to get that all out of my system.

I definitely feel like everyone was way more concerned about Ameera's feelings than Luke's! I mean, on one hand it's nice to try and make her feel welcome (while we all learn a heavy-handed Very Important Lesson about how Muslims aren't so different after all!), but IT WAS NOT HER REAL WEDDING DAY. Sheesh. Poor Luke.

I totally agree with this. The only small amount of benefit of the doubt I can give to Luke's family is that it seems like Luke tried really hard to hide from them how hard it all was for him. He tried to make it out like he and Noah had decided to help Ameera, when what really happened was that Noah decided and badgered Luke until Luke agreed to go along with it. It's still not right that Luke's family all acted like it was a real wedding and made such a big deal over it, but it's not quite as bad as it could have been if they had actually seen the full extent of how much the whole situation was upsetting Luke.
