Noah confronts Luke about "outing" him to Maddie
In this clip, we get to watch Noah be a complete dickwad to Luke, because it's apparently ALL LUKE'S FAULT that Noah isn't going to be living happily ever after with Maddie, all because Luke refused to lie to Maddie in
the previous clip,

It's so interesting to me to rewatch these old scenes and look at them in a whole new light. As we've discussed, at the time I was so desperate for a gay ship that beggars couldn't be choosers! So I cut Noah a ton of slack and made many excuses for him. But it's interesting to me to look back and see how quickly I cooled on Nuke from a fandom obsession standpoint. I started watching the summer Noah appeared, and I only wrote six Nuke fics, the last of which was in the following January. I still watched, but Luke and Reid has been SO much more consuming than Nuke ever were.
Lily: You really like him, don't you?
Luke: Well, I mean, I've liked other guys, but I've never had anyone feel that way for me.
What a telling line. I really do think that Luke's attraction to Noah was definitely in part because Noah was attracted to him, and because Luke didn't think anyone else would want him. That's why he was so amazed later that Reid was interested in him, and so flattered.
Yeah, how dare Luke be so incredibly attractive that Noah was irresistibly drawn to his lips! And how dare Luke not lie through his teeth when one of his best friends asked him a direct question! It's ALL LUKE'S FAULT!
GOD, LUKE. WHY DO YOU HAVE TO BE SUCH AN ASSHOLE? POOR NOAH IS THE VICTIM HERE!
OH MY LORD, THE DOUCHINESS IN THIS SCENE! OFF THE CHARTS! And also in the previous scene at the farm when he says Luke "wrecked his whole entire life." Yep, all Luke's fault! Oh, Noah, the hardships you've had to face because you're gay and attracted to Luke Luke exists.
Oy, Holden and Lily. Lily has made mistakes, but wasn't her fault Col. Mayer is a nutcase! Sheesh. Holden's taking a page from Noah's douchey book.
And, of course, Noah was so selfish for not visiting Luke in the hospital. Luke would NEVER have done that to him. Even when he felt like the fireworks accident was his fault (and when Noah was explicitly saying it was!), Luke was there, desperate to try and help in any way he could. Which, of course, Noah wanted no part of. Looking back, that's clearly a big reason he wouldn't visit Luke at first (aside from being a cowardly douche). Because in Luke's shoes, Noah would have totally blamed Luke for what happened.
Such a prince, ain't he?

Thank you!

It really is! I mean, I never loved, loved, loved Noah like I always have with Luke, but I *liked* him and I wanted him and Luke together, and now I'm rewatching these clips, and it's just so obvious that I overlooked a lot of ABUSIVE behavior -- BAD ME, the way I was willing to throw Luke to the wolves just because I wanted a gay couple on my TV screen!!!
I really do think that Luke's attraction to Noah was definitely in part because Noah was attracted to him, and because Luke didn't think anyone else would want him.
Oh, I definitely think so. I haven't found it yet, but right now I'm looking through some of the pre-Noah clips, because I'm like 99.99% sure there was a scene at one point where Jade was telling Luke about all the hot guys who were going to want him, and Luke insisted that there wasn't anyone like that. He has just always had such low self esteem, and I think he found Noah, and, sure, he was attracted to him, but I think the main reason it went from attraction to long term relationship was because Luke thought Noah was the only guy he'd ever find who would want to be with him.

Thank GOD for Reid!!!

INDEED! It just makes me so happy that Luke found someone who loves him just the way he is and values him as a partner.
AND THEY LIVED HEA.

Oh, Luke! How can you be so awesome and have such a low opinion of yourself? *pets Luke*

(For those who don't know what I'm talking about, it turned out Jade was Rose's biological daughter after all. And Rose was Lily's identical twin.)

This was such a heartbreaking part of the situation and Luke's character. It was definitely a recurring theme. There was the Jade/Luke convo, his conversation here with Lily, the heartfelt admission from Christmas you linked to in the comments yesterday (part of his impassioned I love you Noah speech was how he never thought he'd have that), even at the pond post operation where he's trying to tell Noah about his feelings for Reid.
