Noah's only going to "miss" Luke as his daily punching bag. At least Henry and Reid are a needed comic releif!

I know that everybody says this one, but it is worth repeating:

It is great to see a gay man come out with honesty and a shrug- no big deal! I think Chris has secret issues with it though...

Ah, I forgot to add that Reid's news is greeted with shock and dismay all over Oakdale. If he had annouced an evil twin or past insanity issues -no biggie. All of Oakdale would just ywan about it. But gay- OMG- all of Oakdale goes into a freak out (shakes head)- no wonder Luke was always stuck with Noah in that town.

Well, to be fair, they've probably had at least one evil twin and one person coming back from the dead per year and a grand total of what, 5 gays in 50+ years of the show. :D Who wouldn't be shocked at that reveal? :p

I think more shocking is what "gay" means in Oakhell. For instance, the definition of "gay" obviously includes relationships that consist of angst, longing looks, infrequent kisses, and NO OR VERY RARE EPISODIC SEX. Grrr. So frustrating!

Had they been a straight couple, they would have had sex the day of Noah's surgery instead of stopping. Luke would have been in serious guilt mode, and it would have made for a more substantial secret to reveal to Noah v. "we kissed a few times and flirted." Not to mention Reid sexily whispering in Luke's ear about their night together -- guh!

I didn't really have a problem with the way people reacting to finding out Reid was gay. Henry was upset because he thought Reid was leading Katie on. Chris tried to out Reid in a malicious manner but that fits in with the characterization of Chris being petty, spiteful, etc.,. I think the only one who might have a real issue with it was Mona [although her issue could have just been about the supposed conflict of interest]. No one gave Reid or Luke a hard time when they were being affectionate at the hospital or when Luke arrived as Reid's date. YMMV.
