Part Nineteen: "It's okay, I took care of it. I'll protect you."
We pick up today where we last left off; Luke has taken off, Julia's dead, and Carly and Lily are trying to remove all traces that Lily was ever at Julia's apartment. Lily continues to be just about as useless as a person could be in the situation, and Carly continues to be the best friend anyone could ask for.
Lily is still a mess when she gets home and talks to Luke, telling him he can't just take off like that, that everyone was worried. Luke tells her that he knows what happened, he found her gloves at Julia's place, but "It's okay, I took care of it. I'll protect you." Apparently, Luke saw the gloves, and saw Julia dead, and assumed that Lily had killed Julia, so he took the gloves and burned them. Lily falls apart all over again and spills her guts to Luke about what actually happened, and Luke continues to be strong and tells her that he's glad he burned the gloves, because even if she didn't kill Julia, she's got nobody who was there who could testify to that.
So, after everything Carly did to help her cover up the fact that she'd been at Julia's, and after knowing that Luke took and burned evidence, Lily decides she's going to call Jack and tell him everything. Because, you know, there's no better way to repay the kind of loyalty that Carly and Luke have shown her than by exposing them to criminal prosecution for helping her cover up a murder.
Luke and Carly manage to talk her out of it, at least for the moment. But, seriously, sometimes you have to ask yourself, which one of these people is supposed to be the parent and which one is supposed to be the child?
Sadly, there don't seem to be any clips available covering what happens next, so I'm just going to say here that Luke and Lily each believe the other killed Julia, and they each confess to the police that they themselves did it to protect the other. Eventually the truth comes out that Julia's ex-husband Les Sweeney was the one who killed her.
