I caught...

... a mousie! Since we knew that cold nights lay ahead and the birds here were swarming all day long to get fodder enough to survive hubby had rehoused the bird feeders to the apple tree, where they love to sit and feed on bird fat balls- which were unfortunately finished, all of them! The third feeder needed a refill, and I took the bag with grains onto the terrace to do so- and promptly forgot it there. We got a tad of snow during night, not enough to worry with driving but enough for our farmer to bring the snowplough out and show up in front of the house at five in the morning. That man must be crazy- it was three, maybe four centimetres of white! Neither hubby nor I fell asleep again, so at seven we were both down for breakfast, watching the birds hopping about. When I went onto the terrace soon after there was a strange rustling noise coming from the bag with the fodder. I looked inside and found a fat mouse that must have had a glorious snack inside. I took the broom, tapped at the sac so that it tilted, and off went the rodent. Glad that it was too cold for neighbour´s cats, or mousie would have been a welcome snack for them!
Save for that little highlight it was a rather boring day. The house reeked from all the white cabbage I had to process. Two boxes of Krautsuppe are frozen for daughter dearest, who managed to wake hubby and me last night due to the fact that I had forgotten to put my mobile to mute- and daughter was so happy to see snowflakes when going back home from work that she had to tell me! In the afternoon sister mine called once again for hubby to do janitor work- her washing machine was leaking. Damn, couldn´t she simply turn the water off and tighten the clasps on the wastewater pipe? Or in this case first dismantle it then screw it together once again! Someone clearly had been moving the device, so that the clasps got loose! I wonder how this family has been able to survive until then! Meanwhile I took the laundry off and carried the piles of clothes to the respective rooms. Vacuumed the floor and the rugs then called it a day. There was reading to do!
BTW: Amazon sent a mail in the early morning and delivered in the early afternoon. Still no strange activities concerning my bank account- Thank goodness, and may it stay this way!
