The day after

Nov 25, 2024 18:02

Today was a warm and sunny day, and husband mine braved his seventy years and went outside, to find organic waste to fill the bin up- Tuesday is organic waste collection day. Hubby did cut and rake- and came back in with a sore back. See, seventy years is a dangerous age for such inconveniences! Because of hubby´s sore back the wanted boxes with baubles and tin decoration did not make it into the living room for being spread all over the ground-floor. Not my fault that husband has placed those boxes on top of the old wardrobe I´d need a ladder to reach it- only that I do not climb ladders!
Since the children who left last yesterday are always putting the toys into the boxes where they belong there was next to no housework to be done save for vacuuming the ground-floor and mope the bathrom there- still do not know who of the six rascals decided to serve apple juice in the tiny cups from the children´s kitchen. I assume it was Cassian. His father had oredered water only for his sons. Fact is that all apple juice was gone and the floor in the bathroom was very sticky. Then there was the Barbie cemetery on the upper guestbed- cemetery indeed, becaiuse Elsa had managed to decapitate two of the dolls. And did not even report to us...
I finished four more scarfs today but won´t do more of them- Christmas is coming upon us too quickly this year, and there are more urgent things to do now, like making advent wreaths and baking cookies. As I feared daughter´s early shifts mass the days before Christmas, which will render me more grumpy than usual. Poor hubby, he will have to bear the brunt of my bad mood and the housework I might neglect by sleeping away! Main problem in December will be that the boys will be with us often for overnight stays, and that we will have to travel to Graz twice- it depends on the weather when this will happen. I hate it when having to leave during Advent time! Our neighbourhood is not a closely knit one, but during Advent time we pensioners often meet for cookies and mulled wine- and Stubenmusi, of course!
Hubby has been plotting the rest of the day: Daughter and I gifted him a balloon ride, number one and two a trip to Amsterdam, so that he can listen to the Concertgebouw-Orkest. He wants me to go with him, but I´d prefer to spend those days in quiet and have fun with my friends. Some of them won´t come for a visit because of husband´s territorial behaviour, which surfaced when he got older. Maybe I did not notice before, because he was working then. Having three days free of a sulking husband who eyes my friends with contempt might be nice!
