Last night I got my first flu shot ever* :X

I don't know what exactly causes me to act like a "big giant baby" (thanks dad) about needles but it's kind of interesting. It's like, I am scared but not totally terrified, I sit down, I get the shot, the doctor (who knows allllllll about my pathetic fear) gently puts the bandaid on and tells me I'm all done, the brave and optimistic and sweet-natured side of my brain is going "see? that wasn't so bad, it's all over and you're totally fine, we made it!" and then out of nowhere I burst into tears and start shaking uncontrollably and the part of my brain that was being all soothing just goes "..." because I mean, what can I do? I can't control this. Lol at my life becoming a bad internet meme because when you jab me I start ~shaking and crying~

Luckily I pregamed for the shot & blood draw with valium, which is awesome, because the last time I got blood drawn it took over 90 minutes of crying quietly in the lobby before I stopped shaking enough to walk to my car. This time the valium kicked in about 2 minutes after the blood draw (next time I will take it BEFORE the appointment, lesson learned), so I started feeling awesome pretty quick but also forgot how to walk to my car.

I have to write a shoutout to my brilliant and amazing and wonderful brother d_flyby who is amazing and incredible and waited in the waiting room & then took care of me while I was being a pitiful bag of sop being fed juice by the amused nurse & then took me to have malts and burgers & then drove me home because I was too stoned to drive. He could not be better and I could not be luckier.

I rewarded myself for being so brave by buying perfume samples from Conjure Oils last night. Nobody was able to help me narrow it down (I love you guys so much for your enabling, you know? no sarcasm) so I got:

The Light Queen
a long soak in a rose milk bath while sipping chilled champagne
La Sirena (the siren)
ozone, the weathered But [sic] wood of old ships, dark waters and salt water-soaked flowers
Aphrodite - Greek Goddess of Love
olive blossoms, linden, red roses and a kiss of sea foam
Pele - Polynesian Goddess of the Volcano
spicy white ginger blossoms, explosively fragrant pikaki flowers and ripe tropical fruits
Zeus - Ruler of Mt. Olympus
Tropical fruits and the flowers of paradise unfold with a sip of wine, olive blooms and the ozone of sky fire
Yemaya
ripe watermelons and juicy pineapples are rolled in molasses and left on the salty shore waiting for the waves to slowly rise and deliver her offering to the vast ocean.

Roses and milk and salt and flowers and ozone, what. I am so excited.

*My dad wound up with Guillain-Barre after a bad batch of vaccines in the late 60s (as did my mom's first cousin). This was not related to the swine flu vaccine that triggered an upswing in cases cases in '76. He spent several months in a hospital bed, paralyzed from the neck down (but later made a full recovery). He's wary of 'unneccesary' vaccines now, though, & I got every recommended vaccine in my childhood except the flu vaccines. :X
