April sweeps the brush through her hair, through those long strands that smell like money in the form of rich-scented shampoo. There’s a meeting with the boss today and she’s late, as short on time as her skirt is on fabric, and later she’ll think that had she worn the flats she could run.

She arrives at the office, doubled over and knock-kneed as she tries to catch her breath, but as soon as she walks into the meeting room she’s exuberant again. She smiles at the boss and sits primly, pen braced up against her fingers; she’s ready to take dictation, as always, even if that dictation involves wrapping up jobs-gone-wrong, wrapping up bodies, wrapping her legs around the boss’s waist.

He smiles at her and tells her she’s beautiful; the look on her face makes it obvious that she knew this already. She takes her notes and leaves, sitting at a desk in the hallway that’s just as exuberant as the rest of the building; she leaves on her lunch break and checks into a hotel.

The Gatewater Hotel is what the boss promised her it would be; it’s elaborate and gilded and completely and utterly tacky, and April loves it almost as much as the bellboy loves her. She laughs at his blush; it would almost be cute if he weren’t so unctuous (which is another one of those words the boss taught her; she takes it at face value, because the boss would know, business man that he is, and he definitely has a big vocabulary).

The bellboy shuffles off, leaving her and the boss alone.

"You’re going now, Mr. White?" she asks, and the boss smiles at her.

"I’ll be back before long," he says, smiling. "Or do you believe that promise to be duplicitous?"

She has no idea what that means, other than that sounds kinda bad, so she shakes her head.

He’s back before too long, as he promised, and she gives him a massage. Her fingers are soft from a lack of ever doing really difficult work, and she obviously has no clue as to what she’s doing. The boss rolls his head back anyway to look at her; she’s kneeling on the bed, he’s sitting on it in front of her, and he still has to crane his neck to see her face. His head hits her chest and she squeals, looking surprised; he smiles at her. "Apologies, April, darling," he says. "Are you starting to grow disenchanted with the tediocity of your task?"

"I’m not bored," she says.

"Good girl."

He calls her a good girl again when he comes back again later, after beating Mia Fey’s brains in.

April peels his jacket off and he snaps around and kisses her; she knows what his deal is, she’s dealt with dangerous men before - he’s not the first and he probably won’t be the last. His skin has a thin sheen of perspiration, and he asks her around the kiss how things went the police, mumbling the question into her mouth with a lot of heat and entirely too many words.

"Good," she says when he pulls away, and she moans when he grabs her chest through her clothes; he doesn’t apologize this time and she doesn’t care, getting caught up in the moment and the firmness of his other hand against her hip, toying with the waistband of that pitifully short skirt that cost at least ten times what the combined amount of fabric was worth. "It went real good..."

"Splendiferous," he says, backing her up against the wall and her eyes go wide in spite of herself; she reaches behind her and a bit to the left, fumbling for the doorknob to the bathroom and pushing the door open once she finds it.

Getting into the shower involves generally involves a striptease of some sort but for now they’re too impatient to care; her fingers fly like they’re powered by pistons, firing the buttons through their holes on his shirt as he removes his rings. Once he’s undressed he delivers a quicker treatment for her - shirt up, skirt and panties down, and the bra is entirely too frustrating for him to deal with right at this second; rather than lose the moment April just undoes it herself and slips the straps off her shoulders, and the water is already running somehow and they’re in it and surrounded by steam and water sliding off their bodies. They have sex, with her braced against the wall with her legs wrapped around his waist and he supports her while he fucks her and he kisses her neck, and she’s noisy to the point that she obviously doesn’t care if the entire floor hears.

He washes her hair afterwards. "That’s a good girl," he says as he works hotel shampoo into her hair, and even though her back is to him she smiles like she already knows.
