What form will your character's NV take?

This sweet, sweet piece of machinery . Considering the relevance of time to Aoi, it's only proper that his NV takes the form of an incredibly detailed watch. Not only is it capable of performing the basic functions of an NV (the browsing screen and typewriter keys are projected through interactive holograph), it's also an homage to his turn-of-the-century origins.

Abilities
Character's Canon Abilities:

Aoi is a telekinetic.

Through telekinesis he is able to manipulate matter in a variety of different ways. He is able to lift, move, spin, bend, break or impact objects far greater or smaller than himself as long as they are within vision (physically, or otherwise). Through creative use of his ability he is able to reproduce a 'forcefield' effect, as well as propel himself through the air and levitate.

While the versatility of Aoi's ability makes him sound like a nearly unstoppable individual, his ability has it's limit as well as it's price.

The greatest limiting factor of Aoi's telekinesis is time. For roughly five minutes he can use the full extent of his ability to whatever purpose. The time may be spent in one fell swoop, or in smaller increments. Big or small, and usage of his psychic power goes on the clock. Both Aoi and his comrades track his ability by stopwatch to the second in order to properly strategize their actions and prevent overspending.

While that may sound like micromanagement, in actuality it's a necessity. The five minute time limit of Aoi's ability is more a precaution than a true cutoff point. Aoi is capable of performing past this limit at risk to himself, and those around him. As his mind is taxed the strength and accuracy of his ability suffers, as well as his body and brain. When Aoi is pushed past his physical and mental limits he is not only prone to exhaustion, but physical trauma that can range from severe headaches and nosebleeds to permanent brain damage and hemorrhaging.

Time and safe use of his ability is regained by recharging through good ol' R&R. A full nights sleep is the easiest and most thorough way to recuperate, but a solid meal and a breather do the job in a crunch for time.

Due in part to this special ability, Aoi is also a professional spy. Through special training he is proficient in the use of fire-arms and most land/air vehicles. He is fluent in Russian, English, Japanese and Chinese and specializes in undercover reconnaissance operations. He is also trained in basic CQC and physically fit, though he'll use telekinesis over his fists any day. Generally if James Bond can do it, Aoi can do it too- albeit with less experience and badassery.

Considering his professional background (cover job) and hobby of photography, he also takes a a very good photo.

He also plays the violin - badly. It's a dangerous skill that can drive anyone within hearing proximity insane by the sheer awfulness of it.

Weapons: JUST HIS BRAIN.

History/Personality/Plans/etc.
Character History: Here.

Point in Canon: End of canon, post crash.

Character Personality:

A bright and charming young man, Aoi manages to be both and intense an easy-going individual at once. This dual personality is fitting of his dual occupation as a photographer and spy, it's really no wonder he's an 'O' blood type.

Aoi moves where life takes him, guided almost entirely by emotion and intuition. While this might look irresponsible or directionless to the naked eye, Aoi is actually very consistent in his ability to successfully adapt to any situation. He thrives in flexible situations with multiple paths to an end result, split-second decisions made upon gut instinct. When enthusiastic or interested Aoi is relentless in passion or pursuit. If he feels strongly about something he will dedicate himself to the cause with every fibre of his being. It is this personal desire and conviction that is near unstoppable, and inspires loyalty and admiration in others.

Regardless of the ability to do almost anything when he puts his mind to it, the opposite can be said when Aoi's mind is elsewhere. When the task at hand is boring or mundane, Aoi is oblivious or downright stubborn. Since doing the dishes or picking up after himself aren't part of Aoi's ideal of living life to the fullest, they're ignored and left for others to deal with. In pursuit of the bigger picture, he gives little or no thought to the aftermath of his actions unless it's directly brought to his attention as an issue - and usually ignored or forgotten. While his partner thrives when confined to a strict schedules and set tasks, Aoi is more than happy to go with the flow and not sweat the small stuff. Kazura often sweats enough for the both of them anyway.

Aoi is warm, and genuinely interested in the people and world around him regardless of gender or culture. He has a passion for travel, finding friends and creating opportunities wherever he goes by virtue of his friendly and adaptive personality. He is a well-travelled and well-socialized individual with a similarly well-rounded range of interests, beliefs and tastes. It's this worldliness and ready acceptance of things that are different that allows him to be flexible, and emotionally intuitive - capable of understanding and relating to almost anyone from any walk of life.

In stark contrast to modern-day society, this open-mindedness was considered vulgar and radical by Japanese standards at the time. Maintaining ones cultural identity was the most important aspect of a man's personality. Aoi does exactly the opposite, absorbing the culture and experience of wherever he goes, curious and appreciative of the differences in people rather than fetishizing homogeny and encouraging bias. To have an opinion that differed from the majority was obscene, to voice these opinions and suggest alternatives was terrorist. Most Japanese only questioned the direction of their government in guilty silence, Aoi voices these question - inciting discomfort in those who would rather remain close-minded and ignorant of Japan's political and military flaws. This is most obvious in his relationship with Kazura, who often directly refuses to even discuss such topics with Aoi for fear of being labeled a rebel or activist.

It's because Aoi is so alert, sensitive and conscious of his environment and surroundings that he is only too aware of the hypocrisies of politics and society. Rejecting the opiates of the masses, he chooses personal independence over the stability and security of the Japanese hive mentality. Aoi proves time and time again through his radical but honest actions that he would rather be a terrorist than a man without the freedom to make his own decisions. The only person Aoi feels the need to be in control of is himself, and would rather encourage this sense of self identity in others than lead them.

The best example of this is also Aoi's most distinct personal trauma.

The love of his life and fiance, a woman named Shizune was tasked with the role of 'prophet' and the ability to see into the future. Believing this to be her fate, and chained by obligation towards the previous prophet she abandoned her own personal happiness to play the part of the tragic heroine for the greater good. To do this she faked her own death, leaving Aoi a widower. While Aoi is capable of overcoming her death, when he later finds out she is alive he is struck by the fact she is simply acting out duty than personal desire. He attempts to convince Shizune that she can allow herself happiness and make a difference to the Japanese people, but she refuses and Aoi allows her the freedom of that decision despite the pain it causes him. This incident not only left a lasting scar on Aoi's heart, but dealt a fairly devastating blow to his self worth.

Another example is one of Aoi's most defining moments, and proof of his unnerving ability to inspire honesty and emotion in others.

Despite the pain of Shizune's abandonment, when Kazura turn-coats Isao's side, Aoi makes it a point to similarly confront him. Ever true to his own beliefs, Aoi does not confront Kazura to convince him that he is wrong - but to convince him he is acting on what he is being told is right, rather than what he truly believes to be right. Because of his respect and acceptance of what makes them different in both personality and action, Aoi is able to draw Kazura back to him and they continue together on a path they both share - saving the world and preventing the war.

Charismatic, risk-taking and sensitive to the needs and thoughts of others - Aoi is an inspiring individual that may not make a lasting impact on history, but will certainly make a lasting impact on the people around him.

Character Plans:

Aoi's goals won't be much different from what he would have ideally been doing back home. His first order of business will be to recover, and when physically and financially able to open a photography studio. Even though the Sakurai-kikan has more or less been officially disbanded, he will be living with and keeping an eye on Kazura as a friend.

He'll also be swallowing the concept of WWII, and working towards overcoming his own emotional issues with their time and place.

Appearance/PB:

Aoi is the polar opposite of Kazura in appearance. Where Kazura is refined, Aoi is unrefined. Kazura is classy, Aoi is kitsch (pink shirt, red tie anyone?). His clothing is casual and eclectic, masculine in a very boyish sense of the word. At 5'9" he stands only two inches shorter than Kazura, but is outweighed and outmuscled by a good twenty pounds.

[ A thumb obscures the image with blood and soot before smearing it away again. The NV had began recording upon impact, projecting a slumped man and all the blood, smoke, all signs of the crash minus the wreckage itself.

Aoi had rattled his head hard enough to not be particularly curious about the last fact, his brain was only occupied with one thing - the same stubborn promise that was keeping him alive.]

K-Kazura, I made it.

Told you I would.

[ He grins, regardless of the fact that blood is pouring out of his ears and battered nose and mouth. He may have escaped the crash within an inch of his life, but he'd still overextended his ability and his brain was hemorrhaging. He was talking to himself as much as anyone at this point, he could only hope his words would reach that someone. ]

Want to give me a hand?

I'm a little tired, I could use a… hand.

Third Person Sample

Aoi stood back from the bathroom mirror, setting the heavy scissors down upon the counter with a soft 'clink' of metal against ceramic. Mousy brown hair littered the sink and floor in clumps, he'd clean it up later. Overall he'd tried to keep the job even, but mostly he'd just taken the pieces that were too long between his fingers and snipped them clean off.

Kazura would disapprove, would tell him that of all the things he was - a barber was the least of them. He didn't understand that Aoi had been clean-cut before. He had gone to a proper barber and worn a proper suit. Hell, he'd even had himself a proper house and a proper fiance whom he loved very much.

Aoi didn't need to look in the mirror to know those proper days were over, the change was inside of him as much as it was outside. He just wasn't that proper man anymore. Aoi didn't mind, and when he cut his hair in the bathroom with a pair of kitchen scissors it was his way of accepting it.

Running callused fingers back through the uneven strands he smiled at his reflection. It wasn't so bad, he could see his eyes and forehead - and that was good. The back off his head, the part he couldn't see, was the worst part, but Aoi wasn't the kind of man who looked behind himself anyway.

He was always looking forward.
