Damn it's been toooooo long
I sent out this e-mail on request to a bunch of people that saw me off to San Francisco from AZ so I thought I would post it
Here is a little (I mean big) re-cap on how I spent my
summer: *takes a deep breath* ;)
I got to San Francisco, performed with Desert Dance
Theater and then went on a month long vacation where I
took either a dance class or a yoga class everyday and
explored the city the rest of the time.
I stayed right across the street from the park where
they filmed the intro to Full House (Alamo Square)!
I had a blast on these little daily adventures, one in
which I met an old hippie in North Beach - Vince is
HILARIOUS and the first time we hung out, he took me
to the oldest bar in San Francisco where the drinks
are strong and the bartenders have been working there
as long as the bar has been in existence (my favorite
bartender, Ruth, has about 6 teeth remaining-fuckin'
cool) He also introduced me to the "betty crocker of
the neighborhood, " Ed who then proceeded to give me
the strongest freakin' "brownie" I've ever
eaten.....good times, good times.
I think the craziest thing that happened during this
month, however, was being able to perform will Bill T.
Jones & Arnie Zane company.
They came to San Francisco and needed 15 local
performers to help them with a piece entitled
"Continuous Replay." The only catch is that you had to
perform in the nude......so of course I did it! No
really it was an awesome experience that I will
treasure forever because I will never be on stage with
more amazing dancers than the Bill T. dancers. Plus,
Natalie and I took them out for drinks and dancing
after the last show, which was off the hook...yeah the
hook is right here, and we were waaaayyyy over there.
Then I went on to teach at that Tech Summer Camp that
I talked about at the party. Well, since the Director
sucked so bad at Berkeley, they fired her and promoted
me to Direct the camp all summer! So I did and it was
amazing - put me in a polo and a fleece vest *presto*
- Instant Camp Director! I even went down to UCLA
after I was done at Berkeley and met the Frau from
Austin Powers - Her son attended our camp!
So a couple more weeks of vacation ensued and I spent
some time in LA, Venice Beach, Santa Monica, Santa
Cruz, Sunnyvale, Sausalito and Sonoma.
Now I'm back in San Francisco, I have a place I share
with 4 other people on the third floor of a building
in the Lower Haight district. The two flats below me
are filled with aweesome artistic entrepeneurs who
have created an art/performance space in the basement
and we are having a show this Friday - 81X - Kick ASS!
I also have about 8 residencies teaching dance in
elementary schools around San Francisco & I work at a
rock climbing gym.
There's the re-cap and I feel like an ass for talking
about myself for the last 8 paragraphs so e-mail me
back biotches - I want to hear about what eveybody
else is doing and I want to keep in touch!
If anyone is in San Francisco, let me know! Come stay
with me! - I owe a shit-load of couch crashing to the
karma gods.
