A stream of consciousness hello
So, it is my first day back in the office after two weeks off looking after Audrey. Kids are hard frickin' work, don't ya know. Didn't go anywhere or do anything, but it is also kind of nice just to not be at a computer the whole time. The last few days were really hot, so I've been running around in a bikini and joining in in water fights with the neighbourhood kids. Also got her to give up her dummy, so that was a bonus.
Work is interesting in that many things were left in an odd state of limbo in my absence. The first rattlings of a power play were I would come out the big winner if it comes off were happening on my last day, but in no way initiated by me (and in fact, from a very unexpected corner). Needing to play some gentle politics in the meantime to fake looking like I can take on the extra responsibility. Trying to not fall back into the old rut that just makes me depressed and non-productive. We shall see.
We got an absolute shitload of rain this morning, but it is supposed to start being hot* again tomorrow. Except now I'm stuck in a non-air-conditioned office. Woe.
*The numbers are never that big, but the humidity round these parts can be brutal.
