April sat down heavily in her chair, fighting the headache that had sprung up during her meeting with Harrison and his Security Adviser. )
BECAUSE I DO.
Ohhhh poor April. (I feel as though I'm always saying either poor April or poor Simon, lol) I loved getting this backstory on her and I love how you put it with such an important time in her life, where she's doing much better than she was at fourteen.
One of my favorite bits about this installment was the juxtaposition of her memories of breaking the glass as a child and her father dealing with her wound, and then making her clean up compared with a similar situation twenty-two years later with Simon. I just adore him, okay? He's so caring and just so concerned for April, unlike her father in the same situation. He takes care of April and takes care of the mess.
And I loved that April shared after being so secretive for most of this story. She actually recognized that Simon wanted to talk about the thing with her dad, and she didn't avoid it for much longer and actually brought it up herself. Simon and April both constantly need reassurance from the other that the they are loved, but they're also more than happy to provide that for the other when they need it.
