Cradling her own beer, Thursday rounded the large outdoor chair and sat beside Logan. Silence reigned for a few moments. "It's hard to believe Fandom has peaceful moments like this."

He glanced up at the sky, taking a pull off his beer. "Makes the exiciting ones all the moreso, I guess," he said.

"Exciting," Thursday repeated, smiling into her beer. "You mean the parts when we're running and shouting and being chased by mythical creatures?"

"Ancient Chinese proverb says," he intoned. "'May you live in exciting times.'" His grin faded slightly as he glanced at her, his gaze thoughtful.

"Ancient Nextian proverb says," she replied, "'I don't know about exciting, but eventful fits the bill'. This year in Fandom has certainly been eventful. "She was," Thursday agreed, glancing at Logan. "Trolls were easy enough to deal with. I wasn't sure how to handle this though."

"Nighten was pretty special," he said, meeting Thursday's look with a faint smile. "Can't say I didn't like her, though."

The corner of Thursday's mouth curled up into a small smile. "She was beautiful. Unexpected, but beautiful. We haven't really talked about her since she left."

"We haven't," Logan agreed finally. "She was beautiful - she had your eyes."

Up until now, Thursday had been glancing away, not risking looking at Logan for too long. Now as she spoke she faced him. "She reminded me of you."

"It was uncanny," Logan said, already facing her, and his voice became softer as he continued. "I don't think I could've argued against that for long; she was definitely our child."

"In another timeline," Thursday corrected, her voice also lowering in volume. "A path not taken." There was the slightest pause, a hesitancy, before she continued. "But not altogether unthought of."
