DPP: Mind the Gap!

Oct 12, 2012 09:42

It's been a really great week full of fun discussion so far, so thank you all! Today I thought maybe we could talk about those times when our pilots were apart or just not focused on by canon very much. What were they doing in these time periods? Do you have certain head canon about them? Did they keep in touch (if they were physically separated)? ( Read more... )

Kara writes letter to Lee explaining everything, her involvement in Zak's death, her feelings for Lee, her past with her mother that she never sends because she can't tell anyone else.

Interesting. When does she write it? What state of mind is she in when she does it?

I love the idea that Kara doesn't really open up very much to anyone when she's first on the Galactica so she writes to Lee when she needs a break from being Starbuck-life of the party. I imagine there are lots of letters, like diary entries. Also she always planned on burning them, but then the worlds end and she hasn't ever done that part. She takes them to New Caprcia and loses them there during the exodus.

Wow, that gutted me. Just that she sort of poured all her heart out to him because he was the one person she *might* be able to trust with all this but then after New Caprica even that chance was gone.

This is the kind of sad I do best. Because it leaves an opening for reconnection, Lee catching Kara realizing the letters are gone and confessing their exsistance to him.

Oh, you know what could be interesting? What if she *kept* writing them even after they reunited and the war started? I could sorta see the Lee in her head being different (far safer, less judgey, etc.) from Lee in real life and her needing to reconcile the two...or being forced into it when he finds the letters.

I'm intrigued by why she would take the letters to New Caprica and what if Sam found them after Kara was taken by Leoben. Would give him a lot more insight suddenly. Hmm.

I think Kara would have taken all her personal possessions to New Caprica, feeling that was safer than leaving them and wanting to sever all her ties from the military. I don't think it would occur to her that Sam would invade her privacy by reading them. Although I kind of love the idea that he might have, especially if Kara wrote to a version of Lee that didn't at all jive with the Lee and Kara that Sam saw.

I absolutely love the idea that Kara would continue writing her safer Lee even after they reconnected. Now I have to decide when it would be best for Lee to have found this cache a letters. hee.

Lee could find them when Kara goes back to Caprica for the arrow! That would help explain his softening/change of heart/ why he was totally ready to make out with her on her return. LOL. Not that we ever need a lot of reasoning for that last bit. ;)
