DPP: Weekend Questions

All right everyone, this is my final DPP of the week - it's been a pleasure and an honour getting to know and chat with all you lovely people, Shipper Nation really is the best :)

For this last post, I'm going to close out with a slightly random question - has any of you ever watched a dubbed version of BSG? If you have, what did you think of it -

Unfortunately, I have. And I hated it.

BSG first aired in a cable channel down here and they kept the original sound and added subtitles. I didn't really watch it back then (I watched the whole series together after the show had ended), though. Now, it is being aired again in another cable channel and not only it is dubbed, they don't have any original sound option! I hate that! Jamie and Katee's voices were awful! They managed to kill their chemistry! The voices simply didn't match the emotions displayed in their looks and gestures. It sounded fake.

As a rule, even if the dubbed version is excellent, I feel cheated because you are missing the original actors' interpretation. It's a completely different experience. In BSG's case, it was even worse, because I already knew what I was missing. :(

I HATE when dubs do that. I used to hate it with anime dubs when I was a teenager, and with tv shows we actually love, it's even worse. (and yes, I am with you on the dubs too - part of the charm of a performance is getting to hear the actors' voices, and dubbing robs you of that)

Too bad they didn't have *Jamie* dub for Jamie in French. Now that I would listen to!!

haha, French Lee was actually the one whose voice was closest to the original actor's, lol - he didn't sound too different from Jamie himself speaking French!
