DPP: People in glass houses...

We've talked from time to time about how other people see Kara and Lee - but what about their opinions on others' relationships? Do they recognize that they're hardly in a position to be judging or do they think anyone who lacks their connection doesn't really understand love? What advice would Kara give Cally about Tyrol, or what would Lee think ( Read more... )

I think they both kind of like this one, though they don't actually think about any romantic details, because...parents. But I always thought in Sine Qua Non when Bill leaves the Fleet to wait in hopes of Laura's return, and tells Lee he can't live without her, that Lee and Kara both give their support and understanding and believe those feelings have to be respected.

I can see Kara getting a lot of mileage out of jokes about Ellen and Saul and in general disrespecting their relationship bc of Ellen's infidelity. I think if the four of them were stranded together on an island, it would be a hell of a lot of fun for all of them (after some initial fisticuffs). :P

You don't think Lee would have a problem with that? ;)

Somehow I can't see either of them ever comparing their own cheating to Ellen's since hers was so flagrant, but I'd love to see someone write them being forced to confront the similarity!

I think if they were stuck on an island together for any given period of time, Lee would get over his concerns and eventually join the party. And I can see, in return, some smart ass comments coming from Saul and/or Ellen about the Pot Calling the Kettle Black. ;)

Kara was eventually cool with this one. I don't think Lee ever was.

That sounds about right to me - by the time he has his harem, I imagine they both think he's just a mess.

As far as Gaius/Caprica, though, I think during Maelstrom we see Lee get a hint that they do have real feelings between them. He certainly doesn't seem to reflect on it - other things on his mind - but I wonder if he doesn't want to both be jealous and at the same time refuse to believe anything could compare to him and Kara.

Hee! Actually, I've always thought Lee was exercising extremely poor listening skills during the scene with Romo where he's manipulating Caprica with his story about love. The reason I think this is that in the very next scene, Lee asks Romo: "The story about the woman you loved, getting over her, was it true?" Whenever we get to that line I just laugh, because I'm like, "Lee, the whole story was about him NOT getting over her. You totally weren't listening at all, were you?" :)

Also, I don't think it's clear at all from what Lee sees that Gaius has any real feelings for her; Gaius makes it pretty clear the only thing he cares about is keeping her quiet:

BALTAR: Right, okay. Okay. (Quieter now.) Caprica Six. I'm worried about her. She's the key. They can use her to completely destroy me. (Romo nods.) We need to get to her. We need to know what she's thinking. We need to... I mean, talk to her. Tell her, uh... tell her that I love her very much. And I'm thinking about her a lot ( ... )
