DPP: Crossover/AU Pilots Day!

Jul 24, 2012 23:49

I won't even pretend like today's DPP is not directly inspired by the screening of The Dark Knight Rises I just returned from, and the question is a simple one - can you ever see pilots in a story/fandom that isn't BSG?

Ha! I never noticed, but it looks like they both close their eyes when they shoot in that GIF. So in synch! ;)

I just tweeted the other day that I want someone to write speakeasy fic with bar owner Kara and prohibition enforcer (until she debauches him) Lee. ;)

YES, PLEASE!! Oooh, Lee as a self-righteous Eliot Ness... Or even better, a Roy Olmstead type, who was a rising star in the Seattle police, a lieutenant, who started his own rum-running business on the side and quit the police after he was caught and fined. He went onto control most of the rum running in the Pacific NW. I must say I have a lot of sympathy for the rum runners as my great-grandfather was a convicted (but pardoned!) rum runner who served a term in McNeil Federal Prison at the same time as Olmstead.

The section on Olmstead in Ken Burns' Prohibition was one of the best: http://www.pbs.org/kenburns/prohibition/media_detail/2082733861-olmstead/

WOW your great-grandad was actually that involved in that stuff? That is such a cool story.

(also, is that your dog in your icon? It's ADORABLE.)

Hee! I've written a Buffy AU and a Batman AU, so I definitely agree with both your suggestions :)

I think they can crossover with almost anything, honestly. Mythological crossovers are ones I see most often, but we've gotten everything from figure skating to Fight Club. The LJ comm reelpilots (it has a link on the sidebar) is a fun crossover resource.
