In lots of ways, Kara and Lee share many characteristics and details of hard upbringings. In other ways, they couldn't be more different. Though sometimes being together leads to an explosive outburst, we've seen them work together in a complementary kind of harmony that's pretty unique to them throughout the course of the show. I always identified strongly with Lee, Lee, and seemingly only Lee, when the show was on. So much so it felt disconcerting, at times, to have a character whose inner world I intuitively grasped so completely.

However, I have subsequently come to acknowledge that there's far more of Kara in me than I'm often comfortable admitting. I know people worship her (especially her brash Starbuck persona) but for me, admitting I identify with her is actually a little scary. :) Her world is so sharp and harsh and violent at times... and being in her point of view is *very* painful for me, perhaps because it does feel so close to home. But the truth is I very much connect with her vulnerabilities and the way she hides them (that, at the very least).

So I like your second question very much. :) I'm far from being the harmony, I'm more ... bipolar ... :P But I *do* believe there is an inherent harmony there, that it is possible and indeed desirable to love and connect with both of them, equally.

(hee, if anyone who knew me when the show was on sees this, they're going to be a bit 'WTFFFFFFF????' that I ID as a Kara girl in any way. :p I was always so Lee partisan.)
