Character's Name: Ciel Phantomhive
Character's Sex: Male
Character's Age: 13
Canon point: Chapter 55
Abilities:
There is a reason why Ciel requires his butler’s power, being that he does not possess much of his own. What he lacks in physical strength, however he makes up for in intelligence and critical thinking. He is a master not only at chess but games in general. He’s able to view a set of circumstances and deduce where they may lead or how things may transpire. This is a particularly useful skill being that it’s imperative that Ciel is able to move his pawns into the proper positions. On the more academic side, Ciel is shown to be skilled at playing the violin, have some experience with art, and to be moderately skilled in fencing during his private tutoring sessions contained in the sixteenth chapter of the manga. It should also be noted that despite wearing an eyepatch over one eye, he is a skilled marksman. For a comparison, during a shooting competition between himself and his Aunt Frances he is able to shoot just as much game as her despite having a slightly delayed start, and the difference in their level of experience.
Background:
KurowikiAppearance:
Picture Personality:
Originally, Ciel had been a normal, cheerful, energetic child with a gentle nature, and a loving family. That idyllic world and lifestyle was irreparably shattered on his 10th birthday when his parents were tragically murdered and he was subsequently kidnapped both of which forced him to grow up prematurely. Ever since that time, Ciel had been transformed into a cold, cynical, calculating youth who prioritized his own objectives above anything else a, stark contrast to his former self.
Ciel prefers to keep to himself, primarily only engaging in conversations or interacting with others when it is beneficial, amusing, or completely unavoidable. Consequentially he hates large social gatherings but as he is an Earl, he can manage to put his best foot forward and be a noble, and magnanimous host. That side of himself primarily all an act. Ever since the Phantomhive tragedy, Ciel has never genuinely smiled, and is unable to cry. He's a master at sulking, brooding, and being down right condescending. Part of this attitude stems from being precocious for his age, the rest just from being an immature child underneath it all. He finds it difficult to trust others, given his prior history.
Although Ciel tries to maintain his composure at all times, fulfilling his role as the head of the Phantomhive title and the profitable Funtom co. Toy and confectionary company he is subject to revealing his actual age in his reactions and decisions. He can actually act quite childish. For example, on several occasions when his staff is preparing for visitors, important or otherwise, Ciel will oftentimes issue frivolous requests that pull his most competent servant, his butler, away from the task at hand. This was the case when Ciel’s uncle Clause was scheduled for a visit, and Ciel called for Sebastian and tried to get him to prepare a sweet treat for him before the event at which time the other servants destroyed all of Sebastian’s hard work. He will often sabotage Sebastian’s work or test his abilities just to see if Sebastian is capable of failing.
He possesses an aversion to touching, and will not hesitate to strike someone he feels is invading his personal space. Also he despises being treated like a child or being referred to as one unless it works in his favor. When he was instructed to hold a social gathering of his own he managed to leave the festivities earlier by claiming that since he was a child, he needed his sleep. In this sense he is an opportunist. At the same time in one of the earlier exchanges, Ciel is frustrated when the man in charge of the establishment where he purchased a new cane for himself asks if he’s there on an errand for his father. This also shows that he can have a quick temper.
There is another side to Ciel’s nature, that generally tends to surface when he’s in the company of his prearranged fiancée who was also his childhood friend and cousin. Lizzie, being one of the few people remaining who really knew what he was like before those aforementioned events, seems to be the one Ciel wants to reveal the least to about the darker side of his nature. Occasionally he will treat her with more kindness than he generally shows others. Also he can be quite protective of her. In one instance, Lizzie was almost attacked by a bear and without hesitation Ciel threw himself between her and the advancing creature. It should also be noted that even though Ciel claims that he won’t have any regrets about his decisions, he does seem to have a few. Such as when the final victim is killed during the ripper murders being that they could have saved her had their priority been to save her and not to apprehend the killer. He does provide for a proper burial claiming that kindness had nothing to do with it.
In short, Ciel’s main purpose in existing is to see that those who sullied the Phantomhive name and those who wronged himself personally subject to the same humiliation and suffering that he experienced. Ergo he has a vengeful side to his personality, manipulates others into serving his ends, but is still a child beneath it all subject to uncertainty, and personal weakness. His weaknesses he tries to mask the most, and his pride often gets in the way. He is capable of showing compassion but it’s usual subtle, and understated preferring not to draw attention to this fact. Given the right situation he is able to engage in diplomacy, and can appear quite approachable.

“This most assuredly is not the Campania..,” Ciel muttered and drew himself to his feet. It wasn’t everyday that one found himself waking in an unfamiliar city when he was supposed to be engaging a horde of reanimated corpses on a transatlantic ocean liner. Holding his head in one hand, he raked an eye over the scene before him. A series of street lights dimly lit the cobblestone paved the streets, dark alleyways weaving between the surrounding buildings. The architecture itself wasn’t out of the ordinary, but he still didn’t have any idea which city this was, or how he’d gotten here. Neither Elizabeth, Snake nor there gracious host was anywhere to be found.
“If I’m here…. What has become of the others…” He thought to himself, dropping his hand to his side. Ciel hadn’t been the only member of his family that had boarded that ill-fated vessel. Elizabeth, her brother Edward, the Marchioness, and the Marquis had also been among the passenger list. He didn’t relish the idea of them being left to fend off the creatures on their own, Lizzie especially. “Sebastian,” He called out into the darkness. After a moment when there was no response he added, “This is an order, return to my side immediately.” Standing there he folded his arms and waited. The demon could not defy a direct order… so what the devil was taking him so long? The boy’s patience was wearing decidedly thin but he allowed a few more anxious moments to pass.
Still nothing.
“Tch, That idiot… “ Ciel muttered. Sebastian better not have stopped to ogle a cat on the way here. The tale tell hairs would instantly give him away if he had. With an exasperated huff, Ciel decided he couldn’t simply stand here any longer. Something was wrong, although Ciel often chastised Sebastian for tardiness he’d never actually been late before in all his years of service. This was not like him. Dropping his arms once more to his sides he looked downward only to see a …. Disfigured plush animal holding an assortment of items?
“Kupo!” Ciel’s eye widened, as he involuntarily jumped backwards away from the creature.
“It’s… alive?” He wrinkled his nose and looked at the moogle with disgust. It may not have been on the feline persuasion however he didn’t wish to have anything to do with it all the same. “I don’t have time for this..”. Ciel grumbled turning away from it and opting to traverse the town for clues on his own but that thing was not content to leave him be. Try as he might to ignore it he eventually lost his temper. “All right already! What do you want?”
.
“Kupo, Kupo” He called again raising the objects upwards. Scrutinizing the moogle, he finally relieved it of the items it was so eager to pass on.
“… Some sort of .. currency?” He couldn’t even fathom what the communicator was supposed to be,”and a key….but to what?”
