I think part of the problem is that people have yet to reach the point where they realize people are individuals. There is a lot of talk for respect of individuality yet deep down it really isn't there. People love, if not need, to judge in order to set their perspective about the world straight.

Even if you are unmotivated, so what? Maybe you -are- bright and unmotivated. The two don't have to conflict because "unmotivated" can pertain to ANYTHING. Think about it... I'm unmotivated when it comes to jumping off a cliff. I'm motivated to eat. Tack it onto whatever you want. People want other people to be motivated about things they don't want to do so they don't have to worry about it.

Your sister, in a great view of this culture, is successful. She's educated, she has a job she likes, and she is married. People want you to have all of that, yet I'm sure most are able to accomplish the greater whole of all that. Not only that, but they see it all in a very simple-minded manner. I'm sure those three things that indicate "success" can be very stressful sometimes. People want you to do those things and ignore the fact that they take a lot more work than people are willing to put into it. On top of that, those are things that they consider successful and Becky is merely filling out the holes and gaps in their own lives.

You're not filling in their gaps, so they are anxious. -Fuck- that shit. Don't fill in other people's gaps. Stop filling in their preconceptions. Be glad you're getting a B. Did you learn a lot? Did you expand your knowledge? Did you make yourself a better person, intellectually or otherwise?

If yes, -fuck- the grade. I might get a C in my English lit class, but I learned so much I don't give a rat's ass what grade I get. I'm proud because I gained great insight, not because someone stamped a variable on what they think I learned.

And so far as being a bitch, don't. Just don't even go there. If you be a bitch then you'll put everyone's greatest assumptions to rest.

You lose.

They win.

You want that? I hope not, because then you broke. You crumbled. As far as I see you, you're bright and successful. You're smart, capable, lively, and plain awesome. The second you become a bitch you -fail- in my eyes. You snapped and became what everyone wanted you to be instead of what -you- wanted to be. And since you don't want that, you failed yourself.

Just sayin'.

So I hope you find this insightful. Someone out there believes in you and likes you who you are. I hope that makes a difference.
