No-poo for me!

Today has been my first full poo-free day!   I stumbled upon this community sort of by accident, and I decided to go head first into the idea (pardon the pun, har har).   So, bad jokes aside, I think that this is going to be an interesting change and one that will take some will-power to get through.  My hair has always been board straight and ( Read more... )

Hart water will make a difference. I live in the desert and the well water has lots of minerals in it. When I did use BS, I had to use it every other day, and I had to use more then the recommended amount. When I went to Oregon to visit family,. I had to use less BS and I only had to wash my hair with it once every 3 days. I switched to a diluted castile soap rinse which works best for my hair. Now I wash my hair with the dilute castile soap solution once every 4 days. I rinse my hair once a day (due to allergies) with warm almost hot water.

As for ACV rinse, I do that when ever I wash my hair. Its important to neutralize the base in the BS or soap solution. It also makes my hair fell nice.

I dont add essential oils to my routine. The castile soap I use has tea tree oil in it and that makes my scalp tingle. It dose not hurt to play around and try things. Try adding them to your ACV rinse first and see what that dose. Then remove it from the ACV rinse and add it to your BS rinse. Its important to try one thing at a time. Other wise, you wont know what actually worked and what did not.

What is castile soap? I've never heard anything about it.

Castile Soap is made with vegetable oils. The most common one is olive oil. Its real soap made by saponified fat. Basically you mix lye and oils together and they react in such a way that creates soap, glycerin and water. I have been using a very dilute solution made from water and http://www.drbronner.com/drb_sai_liquids.html
The castile soap has the added benifit of being a soap and conditioner in one.

I like Dr.Bronners stuff because its ph balanced so I dont have to worry about it hurting my hair. I still have to use ACV, it makes a big difference.

You will find that people on this community do no-poo in many different ways. Some people use clay, some castile (or other types of home made soap), some just water, some just ACV rinse, some use salt instead of BS, and some do it exactly like the info page says to do it. Play around with it and figure out what works best with your hair.
