I read an article in my local newspaper about a girl who went 'no poo' about a month ago, and I was intrigued. I just watched an info-mercial for 'Wen' Cleansing Conditioner and I remembered the article and thought I would do some research. I stumbled upon this community and was convinced that this is the way to go. My hair is often flat and dry. Unfortunately, I am feeling slightly overwhelmed with information.
I just want to verify my understanding of how 'no poo' works and that the regiment I have put together in my head is a good place to start.
Ok, so I am planning on using 1 tbsp of Baking Soda with 1 cup of water and 'lathering' it at my scalp and then rinsing that with water. Then
2 tbsp of apple cider vinegar diluted in 1cup of water and applying that to the ends of my hair and then rising that with water. This is pretty much a standard place to start, from what I gather...
Something else I should mention is that I have very dry hair. I have dry hair to begin with and I have just come off of a 6 month run of Accutane and I have been averaging shampoo about once every 5-6 days. (and I could probably go longer, i just like having 'fresh' hair :P ) ...my hair is also very long... (I am 5'9'' and it falls about 5 inches past my bra line and is healthy; I have never died my hair before)
My questions are:
*How often should I start washing? every couple days? or more? or less?
*Will my hair stink? ...and if it does is it ok to add lavendar oil directly to my ACV rinse?
*If it gets really dry, how should I hydrate it? Or should I try just using ACV since my hair is so dry?
and lastly... I read that it could get oil at the roots and dry at the ends... if that happens, should I use a dense hair brush to move the oils down?
Thank you so much for your time and patience : )
