I find this site mildly amusing because it has a tone much like a personals column: "I'm divorced and I have five children and I neeeeeed a relationship. Help!" Or maybe a Dear Abby column: "I have this problem and you're the only ones who can fix it because you have experience and... help

When you go bar-shopping, try and get some sample bars. They really last a long time and you only need a little. You can shave/cut off a small bit and keep it in a small airtight container in your bathroom. This will keep to much moisture out, but also protects the bar from drying out (depending on the climate of your bathroom). Some bars will 'melt' if left out in the bathroom, one of the ones I had did unfortunately. So the container comes in handy.
In the shower you can either rub the bar on your hair directly (gently!!) to lather up, or rub it in your hands and create lather to put in your hair. What ever works best I guess. :) The trick is to figure out what works for you. Some people need a lot of lather, others only a little. Some leave it in 5 minutes, others 15. Don't be affright to experiment, it's half the fun!!
A lot of people use Lush bars (but be careful some contain sls) or chagrin valley. Also check out this site: http://soap-lady.com/shampoo.html It's not exactly conditioner, but nourishing non the less.
Bars have a lot of pro's and I would use them more often, but my hair lathers up really difficultly (especially at the roots) so I like to go with a runny conditioner. Other than that, they are great. :)

Your soap-lady link brings me to some sort of survey that my virus program blocked. Also, you seem to take stock in lathering--doesn't lather come from sodium laureth sulphate? Thank you for the Lush bars reference. I think that's what I had read in the comments elsewhere here.
