Accidental No Poo

I was just diagnosed with severe allergies to DMDM Hydantoin - an antimicrobial formaldehyde releaser reservative used in shampoos, hair conditioners, hair gels and skin care products.  (I'm also allergic to a lot of botanicals found in natural products such asTree Tea, Eucalyptus, Jasmine, etc.

As I waited for my "special" very expensive shampoo to come in the mail, I ended up by going a week of No Poo.  LOL!  I've now been shampoo and conditioner free for a week.  I'm using baking soda, honey and a lemon/water rinse.

What's weird is my hair feels waxy, like it has styling product on it (it's normally, fine, straight and soft.)  It's styles very easily, but it doesn't feel as nice. Is this something I just have to get used to?  Or am I using the baking soda, honey and lemon juice the wrong way?  Or is this the detox period people are writing about?

lime juice, tea tree oil, lemon juice, honey, *the basics, waxy buildup, hair types - fine and straight, -questions from newbies, baking soda, allergies, detox period
