So, I haven't used shampoo and conditioner since last Thursday (9 days) and been doing WO for several days now. Yesterday I used a bit of Dr Bronner's (like less than a pea size drop) on the length to see if it would cut through the buildup some. It didn't, but my hair smelled yummy (peppermint) so it wasn't a huge waste. I've read that many people start out their no-poo journey with a last wash with clarifying shampoo to get the junk out from prior products before letting the sebum build up. I never used a lot of product, but don't know what is left over from my SC routine. I plan on getting a clarifying shampoo to cut through the sebum buildup I have now, though, when I henna my hair sometime this week. (I'll be restarting the experiment then, I guess... ;))

Does anyone have a suggestion of a good clean hair-friendly (natural...) clarifying shampoo? Or know where I can get a very small bottle of it (I hate buying full size bottles of shampoos)?

I'm thinking of going NW/SO after the henna as the reviews at the long hair forums are stronger for that than WO and most of the benefits I'm experiencing now come from brushing, scalp massaging, preening, etc. whereas my hair coming out of a shower is just a wet mess. Oil and water just don't mix.

The OCM for my face is going great, though I'm still experimenting with frequency and the makeup of the oil mix - I want more castor oil to get the cleansing effect, but it dries out my face. Right now I'm doing 50/50 (with grapeseed oil) but I'm going to up the grapeseed oil again.

Thinking about that - has anyone used Castor oil as a wash? I've read it mentioned in an offhand way, but no real specifics on it.

water only, henna, ocm, oils, waxy buildup
