I have been a no pooer for about a year (with about two months where i fell off the wagon about two months back). I started out with baking soda mixed with water followed by ACV. That worked for a while with me until I picked up Tea Tree shampoo for an irritated scalp and had to re start my routine of no poo. I decided to add in some conditioner because I had heard of other people with curly hair experiencing positive results form a conditioner only routine. I tried a few different conditioners and every so often felt like I needed to shampoo (with organic Tea Tree Oil shampoo) the excess that built up beyond what I could handle. I finally came across these two products and thought that I had hit the jackpot

I used The shea butter and Henna conditioner first with only hot water on my in between days. If I noticed build up I would make a baking soda paste and run it through my roots and follow with the conditioner, working most of it in the bottom of my hair. I got a good results at first, beautiful waves and no frizz, but after the second week it started to feel heavy and the waves were not as pronounced. I switched to the leave in conditioner, continuing the Baking soda paste on really waxy feeling days but i always felt like in the shower my hands had a layer of wax on them when I ran them through my hair to do the hot water rinses or to rinse or the Baking soda. Just yesterday I decided to go back to BS/ACV and my hair felt a little less waxy but was not blowing in the wind. Today I did the same procedure and added a small amount of the shea butter and henna conditioner at the ends. When I was playing with my hair at the end of the day today I felt like it was a little waxy, but I notice if I use my wide tooth comb and comb my hair throughly the feeling is not as severe but I get a very large built up on my comb of something grayish in color.
I wondered if anyone had experienced this before with shea butter... if it is the shea butter? How can I make my hair feel lighter again?
